So I've had a Tour for about 6 months. It's not a bad phone, but I would love a Droid. Is there anything short of paying full price that I can do?

By one off eBay, Craiglist or here.

Sell your Tour and buy the Droid at retail. Don't scam the system as there is nothing wrong with your phone. So no, if you want one tour only options are to buy it from Verizon, open a new line, craigslist, or eBay. Good luck.

I'm not asking for a scam. Just legit ways to get the Droid a little cheaper. :-)

Don't know where you're (NOT UR OR YOUR) located. But here in Phoenix (big town) craigslist has them for 300-400. some even in the high 200's) figuring they sell with contract for 199, that's not a bad deal)
Got mine for 350 3 weeks ago, but they've come down since then. Then sold my Storm 1 for 125 ( I just wanted a quick sale) = NET price of Droid 225.
I'm in the same boat. I have a Tour and would *really* like to try a Droid, but I'm not willing to shell out gobs of money to find out I don't like it.

I have my share of smartphones lying around the house (Storm1, Droid Eris, Palm Pre, HTC Hero, and the list goes on) I was never really attracted to the Motorola Droid. A little too square for my liking :).
You can play with it in the store, but the 20-30 minutes you can play with it doesn't do a phone justice.
the only gripe I have with it is the keyboard and the shape. But it is a great phone IMO.
When the Nexus One hits VZW you'll see a ton of used Moto Droids in good shape.
