    Hi everyone,

I have a BlackBerry Torch 9800 that needs to be unlocked. It's teling me to enter the Service Provider MEP code, which I did many times very carefully making sure I'm not missing a #. But it wouldn't accept it, and I used up all 10 goes. What do I do now?

If anybody can help me (and doing it for free, cause I don't have a credit card to get my phone unlocked online, and I'm not going to a phone booth either cause my folks would disapprove of me paying $20 or more just to unlock a phone), that would be greatly appreciated.

Some people are saying that when all 10 goes are up, it's permanently locked to the carrier. Others are saying that it's not locked to the carrier - & I can still get it unlocked.

Someone please help me - I'm leaving for the U.S. in 2 months on a 1 week business trip which involves needing my phone to keep in contact with my business partners there.

You cannot get it unlocked. It's impossible...

    RIM can. But they won't.

Before you get your hopes up, check my post count.
    I'm right. I promise.

You need to find a shop that offers DM3 Unlocking in order to reset it.

They will need to physically access the device via the USB port.

Deathcommand, it is not impossible. A new process it out that a tech can unlock your device remotely via PC. Not cheap as licensing techs is involved and takes about anywhere 1-4 hrs to make an appointment. But it can be done.

So lets clear the confusion and add clarity.

When you exhaust all the attempts you have to unlock the phone using a code and your have 0 tries left, your phone will no longer accept any unlock codes, valid or not, it will now reject all codes typed in and your phone is now permanently locked to the original network.

However it is possible to MEP0 reset these codes on the following models ONLY, I know because I do it.

    6210, 6220, 6230, 6280, 6510, 6710, 6720, 6750, 7210, 7220, 7230, 7250, 7270,7280, 7290, 7510, 7520, 7730, 7750, 7780, 7100t, 7105t, 7100r, 7100v, 7100g, 7100x, 7100i, 7130e, 7130c, 7130g, 7130v, 8100, 8110, 8120, 8130, 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8350i, 8700c, 8700r, 8700f, 8700g, 8703e, 8707g, 8707h, 8707v, 8800, 8820, 8830, 8220, 8520, 8900, 9000, 9100, 9105, 9300, 9500, 9630, 9700, 9780, 9800, 9810, 9860, 9900

A bit of background info, a blackberry phone is fully encrypted, everything including all the software on it, this means no one can change or reset the 10 tries until you know how to decrypt this security.

To put it simply one guy, and i really do mean only "one", on this planet managed to crack some of the new security that blackberry is using and everyone else is still trying to figure it out for years.

This guy cornered the market 'mafia style' by never building any of his machines for sale, instead he gathered a few trusting individuals and sent them to countries to do the MEP 0 reset. He did this so that his machine wouldnt get into the wrong hands and have the competition figure out how he did it but hacking the machine he built. If you have hundreds of phones to reset they will even fly to you and do the work.

    So this means:

    - its never going to be free
    - you will allways need to send your phone to repair
    - and it doesnt come cheap because the price of the service to the re sellers is fixed.
    - and your lucky anything at all can be done about it.

You can get your unlock attempts reset by using a specialist piece of software or requesting BlackBerry do it. We don't supply this type of service because it uses a software that voids the phones warranty and we try to avoid doing anything that could harm a customers phone or contract.

Once you have the attempts reset, you can use a service like ours to get your code.

    I hope that helps.
