about "Question 2" Really? I've been jumping between networks, always been provisioned with each carrier's BIS never had a problem, though ive never actived bis in philippines... not yet at least... can anyone verify this>?

If your phone has been provisioned in the usa, you can't use it here unless the pin has been released by the usa telco.

just wanna share my technique; if ur using BOLD,
1.click on OPTION
2.click on ADVANCED OPTIONS
3.click on BROWSER
4.on default browser configuration, select HOTSPOT BROWSER

this will enable you to surf only using ur wifi to prevent accidental web browsing using ur network,

Aside ofcourse, u should be on KB Browsing

according to globe's website the blackberry curve 8520 is also available for prepaid...

now im assuming if they're offering the curve for prepaid, they're gonna offer BIS for prepaid too right?

nakakainis mga globe csr's. lalabo kausap. im on prepaid and the guy from globe market2 keeps on telling me to get the 2k plan.

just this morning i got a call from globe csr's na meron pa daw nung 450 activation fee.

im super kuripot. im planning to get the gtext500 plan + 450 bis activation. ok na kaya ito para makatipid? madali na naman mag add kung may kailangan ako buksan na email/site. gusto ko lang gumana yung iba kong apps. hehe

Read more on this site because you have a powerful device. Bbm is like yahoo messenger but it works bb to bb only.

Service books get pushed to your device once you activate BIS. Do you have bis activatd on your phone now?

Like you I got the BB8520 but I got it under plan 800. You have to avail also the Blackberry Plan add-on they have 750 , 800 and 1100 in order to enjoy BIS.

i am in canada and i have a prepaid globe OFW SIM card on my regular cellphone. can i transfer my SIM card to a blackberry to just use the phone?
Other questions I have:
1. does globe charge for bb messenger to bb messenger use?
2. do you have to have a postpaid phone plan and then add on a bb plan? or is there a phone + sms + data plan all-in one?

To use just the phone features like calls and sms ,Yes just pop in the sim card to the blackberry it should work.

For globe it works only in the Philippines.
You need a plan before you can avail the BB Plan or new super surf unlimited data plan.

There are data plans but you cant use BIS.

Guys,

My Storm is TELUS (Canada) issued, but unlocked and being used here with a Smart SIM card which has data on it. I've activated BIS (it took one week and a BB engg to come and make it work for me - he said data will fully work with either EDGE or GPRS show up in caps so I should set my network to "2G")

My problem is sometimes BBM messages don't get sent or I'm at a place where GPRS/EDGE previously worked, but then later it won't work in the same place!

Things like that. Any help?
