Well I have no idea when will it be officially released in our country..and I doubt that big carriers in our country will still cater that..since S5 was already released and iphone 6 this coming september..z30 is quite outdated already.. what im trying to say about kimstore is that, if you want the unit itself there you can have it.. no warranty from blackberry but the unit is genuine and brandnew.. I can assure you.. I am a customer of kimstore since blackberry bold.. and i had my unit for 2yrs without any problem till I sold it and got a z10 a year ago, and a year later.. my z10 still looks brand new and 100% good condition..

I agree with what you said. But I only buy Philippine-released units with local warranty because you never know what will happen. While it's possible that you won't experience any problems with your device for 2 or more years, sh!t happens. My brand new Bold suddenly had a keyboard malfunction just one month after being purchased. It was replaced by the BlackBerry service center for free. Imagine if it had been a gray market phone. No support. Even if you are willing to pay, the BlackBerry service center won't touch it.
If you're talking about the online stores, they're definitely not smuggled.

I think the poster meant to say they aren't official Philippine releases. Are these units from kimstore and other online stores approved by NTC? Because they certainly aren't approved by BlackBerry Philippines.
Anything without an NTC seal and no official warranty is smuggled by my standards. But of course, that is my point of view. Yours might differ slightly.

Smuggled may not be the exact term... coz perhaps these importers paid the right duties which makes it legal, but just not official. These kind of product entry are called grey units.

@wasalph I agree with you. From what I know when you say smuggled it does not went to proper process of paying local taxes when it entered the country and the warranty of that product does not applies to the country it entered. I heard that there are international warranties for a specific product which is much a bit pricey for a regular price for a product. For the grey market probably went thru normal process except that the warranty is optional if it covers international warranties for the local service center can accommodate for repair or replacements. That's my 2cents of idea.
I'll ask the people from my favorite store in Greenhills if they paid import taxes and duties for their phones. But I think the reason why online sellers offer units at very low prices is that they didn't go through customs taxes and duties.

Smuggling in its strictest definition means illegal transportation of an item such as concealed items to a prison or across international borders evading laws and regulations esp. taxes. If the seller bought items from the US in small quantities, it is still not considered a smuggling. If it was purchased in large quantities and transported and entered the country in any illegal way, then it is smuggling. I don't think online sellers sell goods for a very low price since most of them are nowhere far from the SRP.
