I plan on leaving sprint for the 8900 on tmobile but I have a problem. The 8900 comes out on the 11th but in under to avoid paying etf with sprint I have to cancel before the 31st of Jan. Now I know must will say I have the 14 day return policy and I can get any phone and return it within that 14 days to get the 8900. What if the 8900 gets delayed for some strange reason? Then I would be screwed and stuck with the G1 lol. I also have an older 8130 from tmobile, can I activate it and still receive the new line discount when the 8900 comes out? Need help!!!!

If your contract with sprint expires on Jan 31st then all you have to do is wait on the 8900 and then port over. Just becasue your contract is up on the 31st doesn't mean you have to cancel with sprint then. It will just be like going month to month. I am waiting on the 8900 myself.

You can active the 8130 and use it on T-mobile without starting a contract. Then you will get the new phone price when you get the 8900.

I think he's planning on canceling due to the new charges to get out of the EFT, not that his contract is expiring.

    But what everyone else said

If you activate the pearl they may not give you th new contract price on the 8900, but if you just get a free phone and return it within the 30 days then you will get new contract pricing. That is what I might do because I am going to get rid of sprint too. Also be sure to get your new contract before your sprint contract is cancelled so they can port over your number.

Thx dopey, that was another ? Of mine (porting of the number). I've decided to get the G1 today and add another line and get the 8900 on the 11th. I played with the G1 for the first time yesterday and its actually pretty cool. I'm still gonna get the 8900 too cause can't see myself without a BB.

Yes, the phone number has to still be active for you to port it. I have seen many people lose their number that way. Glad I could help.
