[CrackBerry Question]

I have verizon account already....I want to add a Blackberry and I see many new Blackberries for sale --they say unlocked. Does that mean I need to buy a SIM card for the phone for it to work with Verizon? Should I be looking for a phone that specifically says "verizon" ?

As far as BB10 devices, only phones that are branded with the Verizon logo will be allowed on the Verizon network. The unlock phones that you see online are gsm phones, which can not be used on Verizon because Verizon uses cdma.

Verizon uses CDMA so what ever device you purchase make sure it is compatible (so no Passport for you unfortunately) with their network. Searching for verizon branded phones would indeed be simpler OP, though any CDMA model should theoretically work.

Any cdma model will NOT work though. Gotta be a vzw phone. Tried my us cellular phone for kicks and no go.

That's why I won't be renewing my contract with VERIZON! Also my next device will be carrier independent. Even if it means skipping the Priv.

As someone pointed out, Verizon may slowly be relaxing this stranglehold. iPhones first, of course.
