I have 2 Sprint lines that share minutes and each have their own $30 unlimited Data plans (one is a BB and the other is a WinMo smartphone) I am going to upgrade the WinMo to a BB.

Will Sprint allow the Data Pack to be switched to a BB Data plan or will they force me into a new plan? I don't see the $30 deal offered on the website.

My current plan works great for me and it would be a shame to be forced into giving it up especially since every other plan seems to cost more.

I don't think so they just upgrade ur account as sprint doesn't charge u for having a bb. Drop a line to cs when in doubt but I do think so.

I have a regular 14.99 data plan and they pushed the service books to my phone so I wouldn't have to change plans.

Just call customer service and ask for retentions.

Thanks for the info. I want to try to preserve my existing plan so U guess I'll have to sweet talk the CSR.

Well......did the upgrade for the wife and got the Tour today. Checked the phone and it shows it was refurbished July 28, 2009! I paid for it as new. Should I complain and request a new one or do the reserve the right to send out refurbs? Maybe this is the leverage I need to get my $30 unlimited plan swithed to a $30 BB plan.

The trackball seems tighter than mine so maybe its a better device.....

    In the Options>About screen it reads "Refurbished - Y (July 29, 2009)"

My Tour says "Refurbished - N"

Activated the phone last night via the web/chat. They switched my plan to BB without any hassle. The refurbished thing was a little different...... here is part of the transcript from the chat (after I told him it says Refurbished under the Options>About menu):

giardinop: "it is under options then about and its part way down the list of items. I dont know if Curves show that"
    08/20/2009 09:22:46PM giardinop: "this is a Tour"
08/20/2009 09:24:02PM Agent (Joshua A): "I do understand, though I am not able to reproduce this on any of the devices we have available. However you do have ********** days to return the device or exchange it for another if you would like."
08/20/2009 09:24:22PM Agent (Joshua A): "This can be done either via mail in your nearest store."
08/20/2009 09:25:14PM giardinop: "Well, after all the work to set it up I don't know if returning it is good for me. It is very disappointing that Sprint would sell an item that is refurbished as new"
08/20/2009 09:25:57PM Agent (Joshua A): "I understand, I do apologize again for any inconvenience this may cause you, you may want to take the device to a repair center to have it evaluated as Sprint does not offer refurbished devices in stock as some other carries may."
    08/20/2009 09:26:18PM giardinop: "understood....."
08/20/2009 09:26:22PM Agent (Joshua A): "the only other possible option would be that the device was purchased, then the person changed their mind and it was returned and restocked."

I guess I could have expected that but I was able to keep my plan so half the battle is won. Whether I return the Tour for a NEW one is still to be decided.

As soon as they came out with the SEP Unlimited plan for $99 I jumped on and have never left. I also have a 5GB data card plan as well. My company covers $60/mon so when all is said and done I'm paying $100 for SEP Unlimited and the 5GB data card...can't complain.
