IMEI's from BB10 devices are no longer listed as compatible with Cricket Wireless. However, the same IMEI is listed as compatible on the AT&T network. Is this a sign of what's coming from AT&T? I moved my Z10 to Cricket last November and just picked up a Z30 (both are AT&T branded). The Z30 can't be moved to Cricket as they won't accept the IMEI...

Why would cricket care what the IMEI is? Find another GSM device and use that IMEI.

Lucky you on the ATT branded device, STA100-1's are a rather rare bird.

They link the IMEI with the SIM card number in their database. If they don't match, no signal.

    If true, that's horse crap.

I have my STA100-3 on an AT&T MNVO. Zero problems.

PureTalk. Still working on the 157 Mb of data I had left over from purchasing 400 Mb back in September. I'm down to 100 Mb.

Grab a ZTE Z222 go-phone IMEI and try that.

No signal? How does a GSM carrier manage to do that, on an unblocked phone?

Simple. If your ICCID isn't in their database, then all you get is an emergency cell signal. The point is VERY SIMPLE, you CANNOT register a BB10 device with Cricket Wireless using their online purchasing tools. Maybe you can get a reseller or store to set you up, but no one has stated they have done that in the past few days. This is something new since the end of November.

There really is little, if any precedence for US GSM carriers excluding GSM phones by IMEI exclusion.

I'm on Cricket and I use my Passport all the time. It works fine. You may not be able to sign up for Cricket if all you have is a BB10 phone, but they don't pull service if you just pop your SIM in a BB10 phone.

Isn't AT&T shutting down their CDMA network? Is your Z10 a CDMA or GSM phone?

Unlocked GSM. ATT branded but was on the T-Mobile network before moving to Cricket.

There never was a BB10 phone released for use on Cricket's CDMA network.

I switched to Cricket when I purchased an unlocked Classic and Passport SE around last September. I couldn't register the devices online using their tools, but I was able to get set-up in-store without any issues and both devices have been fine ever since. This current issue doesn't sound like anything new to me.

I think op is clear in saying you cannot ESTABLISH a Cricket account with a BB IMEI, cause, in the past three months, there have been BlackBerry, Android, WP and iDevices on my Cricket sim and have not had ANY connectivity issues when sim flipping. I think your title may be a bit misleading.

Other posters have the right idea, just use a different IMEI, or does your z10 sim lose connectivity when you put it in your z30?

Crazy that they would do something like that! Not like they are providing technical support for your phone or anything, just data and signal.

FWIW I'm still on Cricket with no issues.

I tested moving the SIM from my unlocked Z10 to my ATT branded but locked Z30 and it worked fine. Again, my comment is simply that if you try to buy a SIM card online from Cricket you cannot enter your BB10 IMEI. That wasn't the case last November.

STA100-1. Doesn't say that anywhere on the box but that is the model for AT&T.

But this was the case for me when I tried to get service for the Classic and Passport. I guess YMMV for some reason

Interesting. Is it possible that the Z30 was never provisioned for Cricket, especially (but not only) because AT&T never picked it up?

I guess if more people try to activate BB10 phones--especially ones AT&T carried--on Cricket and are unable to, we'll have a better idea.

Interesting, it is an STA100-5. I was under the impression that model was Canada only. The phone is clearly branded AT&T. Well, it works fine on Cricket LTE.
