Ok I may be a little naive in asking this question lol but here goes: Whats the big deal with the Tour, other than its a new device? Other than looks, what can it do that my Pearl and Curve can't?

The Tour has a high resolution screen, 3.2 mega pixel camera compared to the pearl and curve's 2.0, A-gps, more memory for apps, a faster processor, will eventually have os 5.0, of course so will the curve 8330, classic pearl will not get this upgrade. Nothing just mind blowing different. Just a good upgrade for CDMA users.

    here is blackberry's comparison...

Everyone, while we wait, read through this thread. Hopefully our delay will only mean that a more solid device and OS will be shipped to us. http://forums.crackberry.com/f141/to...t-here-265171/

I'm definitly still going to get one. Worse case, if the trackball is bad, buy a 9.99 black one from cnn.cn like I always do. If the OS is quirky, I will Crack Mem it and remove all of the useless crack. If that doesn't work, I'll put together my own hybrid with help from friends here like I did my Curve. It is good to see CSouth get it before Sprint which is in the tops ranks of US carriers. Go CSouth.

I've got a trackball from cnn.cn on standby myself. (: I just hope the trackball problem is the ball and not the receiving sensors

I agree. Hopefully it is either an os or trackball housing issue

Hmmmm.....interesting. Well my contract isn't up until December and I'm probably not going to get a new device until then. Hopefully a couple of yall will have thoroughly tested it and posted results by then

the only thing that is different with the 9650 is that it has wifi

I know I won't hold out, still plan on purchasing the 9630 day one. But if the 9650(or 9690 as some prefer) comes out, then i'll just upgrade my other line. but i see that upgrade holding out for the 8930 after I see its specs......as far now I'm just patiently waiting for the 9630.....

I may be mistaken but I think it comes with the optical trackpad.

I don't really care about the optical track pad, even with all the trackball issues, wifi like stated in many other forums could be really useful for me though, it would give me access to things I currently can't control over my 3g network. such as remote interfaces through ip address, home and work, which would cut down my need to carry my laptop every where I go, especially at work. I spend most of my day in range of wifi, campus and home, and both networks double 3g speed....

Here are the known specs (so far):
    • Wifi
    • Optical Trackball
    • 3G where available
    • 3.2-MP auto-focus camera with geo-tagging functionality easily identify where you took your pics.
    • MicroSD card slot supports up to 16 GB 32GB (thanks @n8d!) images, MP3s and apps are always at hand
    • 5.0 OS
Not sure if this is meant to be a replacement or in addition to the Tour 9630 yet

Just stopped in C. South today they said Tour release is October some time, my upgrade is in November, but my son wants a phone with net to watch cartoons over You Tube so I'll probably add a line get the Tour, I'll take it and give him my Pearl. It's new I just warrantied it out last month.
