did u ever find a way to do it?
no..........
If it's a bad ESN, that means the phone is stolen or has outstanding bills I think...so the short answer would be no, I highly doubt it

Couldn't you use it on a gsm network since they work on Sim cards and not esns?

i was thinking the same thing, i was going to take it in and ask if they can unlock it and ill pay the fee
try the link in my sig. If you use GSM you can still use it, as GSM doesnt use ESNs. However the PIN may also be blocked.
Yes you can use Horizon as Sith suggests to unlock it and then use the SIM and get voice service, it would also serve as a fine MP3 player (with video) but it's unlikely you'd be able to get data as the PIN is probably also reported and as Sith said blocked.
EDIT: BTW use the Horizon link in Sith's sig, not mine, since his has a discount. ;)
I would say give it a try. If the device has a bad ESN you won't have to worry about that because you would use a SIM card. Also, if BlackBerry hasn't been contacted to block the PIN (I don't even if they would do such a thing), I don't see why the device wouldn't be fully functional on another carrier.
a bad esn means that the phone was placed on verizon lost or stolen list, if the esn is bad then the phone cannot be reactivated on the verizon/vodaphone networks, however if you feel like possibly creating a $700 paper weight you can try to flash it to another CDMA carrier then have them unlock the phone. But neither Verizon nor Verizon global support will help you with that phone. Furthermore you cant even call to find out why it has a bad esn unless you are the ones that put it on the lost or stolen list, and in that case you risk getting in trouble for insurance fraud.
no you cant just use it on a gsm network because the whole reason you call verizon global support to "unlock" the phone is to gain unlimited use of the sim card slot, the slot is locked for use with verizon or vodaphone sim cards only.
You don't have to unlock the phone through Verizon. Of course they're not gonna unlock it for you... Duh! You don't need to state the obvious. But, you can unlock it through other means. You can search for unlock codes on ebay, or I used a great service to unlock my personal BB phone. I was really impressed with their services. It was fast and cheap. I think the website was www lockpop com People have software to unlock phones for any network. You don't need Verizon to do that. I'm pretty sure it could work if you unlock it. Try it out. It's not that big of a risk. Only like $15 or so. -Peace out-
i say give it a try..
Wrongo......I bought a broken one that was supposedly found, for parts....ended up fixing it, getting it unlocked through a pay service, and use dit on Tmobile, I didnt try the data services though, so I cant say for sure that would work, but voice works...
