As it stands, TCL seems to be banking on VoLTE with the regular GSM BBF100-2 rather than a dedicated CDMA model. Even if every variant within the OS gets sold (which has never happened), there is neither a Verizon branded KEY2 nor an unlocked CDMA KEY2 in there.

TCL somehow managed worse carrier support with the KEY2 than the KEYone; I'm impressed.

I'd love to upgrade my Verizon branded PRIV, but I will wait until the Key2 100-2 model is available and whitelisted by Verizon. There are really no other PKB options for a Verizon customer (other than older BlackBerry models including the KEYone). What's a VZW customer to do?

Everybody complained about Sprint or AT&T for USA carriers with KEYone. I’d be happy to see them again for now. It seems like DTEK and Motion all over again..

At this point, that would require moving carriers and moving countries.

I'm keeping my PRIV, for 750$ it should last more than 2.5 years . It works perfectly fine, and has a great screen. Does everything I need it to do. Plus it's paid for!!

So.. am I understanding you correctly? In my area, I'm pretty much stuck with Verizon. I've been debating whether to get a KeyONE or a Key2. This makes it sound like I'd better get the KeyONE, if the Key2 won't even work on Verizon!

The best thing to do would be to wait for someone to volunteer a real world trial of the BBF100-2 on Verizon, but from what I can tell from the OS, it's VoLTE or bust. If you aren't confident of being in LTE 100% of the time then a phone with CDMA bands (such as the KEYone BBB100-3) would provide more peace of mind.

There are Sprint and AT&T variants in the OS, but if they will be like their KEYone counterparts or their Motion counterparts remains to be seen. At least AT&T users can get some functionality using the unlocked model.

Agreed. Even though I bought the AT&T carrier locked version, I don’t get all the enhanced calling features, no wifi calling, and I’m curious with AT&T carrier locked Key2 if that would be different. I have an open line that will either go Key2 or iPhone something.

Thanks, @thurask! That's probably my best bet. Counting on consistent LTE out here in the sticks is a bit like living in the desert and expecting it to rain every day.. =)

Last Tuesday, I went to my local Verizon store to buy new phone to replace my 6-year-old Z10. Was told that KeyOne is coming in next few months.

I still got different phone anyway.

I'm sure that once it happens, if it happens you will see a pretty big announcement or thread about it.

    But, no, not yet.

make sure you're using the Verizon SMS app and not the native Android one. it does make a difference I've been told.

Verizon announced earlier that it was shuttering it's CDMA network in early 2019.
I see why BB did not produce CMDA variants of the Key 2 and K2 LE.

Actually VZW will continue CDMA service until December 31, 2020 but will not allow transfer or new activation of 3G/4G non-HD Voice phones after December 31, 2019.
