The 8330 is a CDMA-only phone and can't accept a SIM card. It will not work on GSM networks so it is pointless even trying to unlock it.
just trying to figure out why this was needed, I got an unlock code off ebay vendor but didn't have to go thur this process, does this add anything special ?

My daughter just paid about AUD600 for BB curve 8900(Vodafone) without plan to replace her broken BB. Her existing plan is with 3. It has been a week since she called Vodafone for the unlock code. (provided them with imei) Would they ever call? How else can she unlock the phone?

Hi Anybody,
Can you let me know where I can get OS for a Blackberry Curve 8320 to operate on Vadafone in India. My system hung up and I get the "White Screen of Death" Application Error Reset
Thanks
I purchased an AT&T 8300 and went to GSM PhoneSource.com for the unlock code. He charges $19 USD and has the unlock code to you in a matter of hours. I have used his service on several occassions and he is very trustworthy and reliable.
When I received my unlock code, I powered up the Curve with NO SIM installed.
Cingular / AT&T Curve, 8300, 8800
Can be done without a sim card inserted
1. go to settings
2 go to options
3. go to advanced options
4. go to sim card
5. Hold the ALT Key while typing in MEPE ( not case sensitive ) ( you will not see text appear on screen while typing )
6. It will say "Enter Network MEP Code, then you type in the unlock code, press in the trackball to confirm
7. Your phone is now unlocked
Hope this helps
This where the same instructions given to me today to unlock my att 8310 no sim in it and presto unlocked nice work done here. want to unlock ur phone get a code it works lol
Yes...its that simple. Just enter the code that you receive and that's it. You will need a Cingular (or ATT) SIM card in order to bring up the menu. I have them available if you need one.
