    Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to update my 2+ yr-old 8800 to the 9700 with Rogers. I usually do well with retention staff, but the best offer I've had is $199 with a three year deal. Has anyone out there been able to do better with Rogers? Thanks!

Best deal from Rogers is to switch to a different carrier..

$199 + $50 mail in rebate is the best you will get.

If there's a Futureshop in your area head there. My gf got her 9000 for 3yrs and got a $100 gift card for there while my 9700 was $199 and they gave us a $200 gift card

was that on an upgrade or a new activation. Hardware upgrade prices are fixed no matter where you go. You may be able to get gift cards for best buy or futureshop on top of it, but the upgrade fees are the same no matter whether you go to best buy, wireless wave, rogers or futureshop.

Most places like best buy and futureshop give you discounts on new activations but not on upgrades.

Agreed, for contract renewals, you have to threaten to go to another carrier. Thanks to 3G service from Bell/Telus, and 2G service from Wind, this is no longer a scare tactic, but a legitimate negotiation argument.

    I'm sure you mean "minus"...

I was able to do $174.95 including the mail in rebate with the upgrade program.

Print off the attachment and mail it in with a proof of purchase. Remember to make a copy for yourself though.

    Cheers!

Give them a call. Most of the time they usually allow it. Depending on the rep
