So I was browisng trough the advanced options menu and found a new link for "wireless upgrades.". Unless I'm mistaken, this is a new option that must have been added very recently. Is this confirmation that Att and RIM are getting ready to roll out 5.0 in the very near future?

The wireless update feature appeared in much earlier 4.6 OS releases. This feature is independent of any potential 5.0 OS official release. Sorry to burst your bubble.
