This problem may be more widespread than you thought because i live in ireland and on the O2 Ireland network and have just got my BlackBerry Bold 9700 they however do not have the device yet on any irish network carrier's and i got mine factory unlocked
email is set up and receieving
ubertwitter is slow and un responsive
web browser is horror and only works with wi-fi
does anyone know whats going on because my 8800 works fine please please reply back soon

Seems like its only affecting North America, I'm running on Smartone-Vodafone HK network at the moment and everything is going smoothly. BBM only lags when sending to friends in North Amercia but to friends in HK it's normal.

i would say it's safe to say no one knows what's going on. crackberry reported it on the main page, but they haven't reported a cause yet. this bbm outage just made the twitter trending tweets list too.

Now how can I finish fighting with my husband if the darn BBM won't come back up...?
