Ok so now that there is a 4.5 official sticky on the curve forums should I download it even though it is not for Verizon. I know i can delete the vender file but my real question is... Is there any chance that the Verizon edition will be at all different, Im wondering because there are some newer betas then the official posted.

If you are running the newer beta .66, then going to this .56 version would be a downgrade.
Yes you can run it but you need to delete vendor.xml file. Directions will be on the thread that I list. Just so you know, this is not a Verizon release but its a RIM/carrier approved release.
I know what you should do. Since you just really want the HTML like Empower or BB Smart, just buy one of those apps and leave the OS alone. The HTML on those apps are wayyyyyyyy better than what 4.5 has to offer. That's the same thing I'm doing with my 8330.

Excluding things like themes...are there pressing new advantages to 4.5 that are worth not just waiting for Verizon to make the upgrade available? I have read rumors that GPS may work better for other apps (if you have VZ Navigator in follow me mapping mode in the background) but even that doesn't seem like a certainty.
I've heard that the media player in 4.5 has an EQ and that the browser is a little different. I think I'm just gonna wait for the verizon release unless there's some good feedback. Still don't know why they would release this when there is a better beta.

Hmm... Seems I lost my Exchange Email with the 4.5 "upgrade". Any ideas on that or is it that the Exchange server needs updated to accommodate the Blackberry??
I updated my Verizon Curve last night to 4.5 with the official release and I am VERY happy. Html email works great. Browser and Media Player are both a bit different. For html email alone, this update is worth doing. Its not that hard. Give it a go.

I thought the official release came out on the 15th?
I have never had a blackberry before or needed a reason to actually have one but, since I became a manager I'm going to need one. I'm getting it Sept. and I'm already addicted to this crackberry world. It will be the Blackberry curve 8330.
My question though is this. I have noticed people saying you should download the CDMA 4.5.0.66 to upgrade your phone. I just noticed this site and it's saying that there is a CDMA 4.6.0.66 newer upgrade. Does anyone know if this is safe? or if it's true?
When I get my phone I want to make sure that I get the best out the blackberry 8330.
At this point with the talk of the official version due so soon. Why not just wait. I have .51 for my 8830 and like it. Now I will wait for official to come out. Wait for 4.5 official be like having a new bb, give you something to really look forward to. lol whatever that means.
This version is official, for 8330 cdma curves, there shouldn't be any differences than the one verizon releases. I installed it last night and everything is working perfectly. For those who are reluctant just follow the bb 101 guide and everything is much easier than your thinking.
