Is this a good price for the Bold from someone already under contract and upgrading to a new phone?

    $299 seems reasonable without rebate.

Yeah I'd call that a great deal, considering the AT&T retail price is about $700 (from early reports). The price before mail in rebate for upgrade/new customers is $299.

I remember when I paid about $300 for my 8100c on eBay near the time when it first came out (I was on contract with another device, without any upgrade coming up)

No, this person is under contract, and probably not eligible for upgrade. It's a great price for that scenario, as far as I'm concerned.

no way thats a rip off. I went to letstalk.com and bought a 8900 for me and a 9700 for my girl. All I paid was taxes that came out to $66. PLUS i got free 4GB memory cards for each phone. The kicker was that I was only one year into my two year contract. FTW. it did take three days for me to get the phones but it was a s easy as online ordering could get. I highly recommend it.

It's a decent price, might be worth it if your current phone is meh.

I don't think there is anything reasonable about it....I don't currently have a BB or a data plan. If I pay the 'full discounted price' even for a new customer I will also have to sign a new 2-year contract and agree to an additional $30 a month for the data plan.

I might be able to live with not getting the full upgrade discount until Feb 2010....although that's idiotic given that I've been an ATT customer for decades.

But an additional $18 "upgrade fee"? Ummm, no.

I'm not going to pay $18 for the privilege of paying ATT more money over the next 2 years. My ETF is only $95 right now....it is altogether less expensive for me to leave ATT.

But I doubt that I have will have to...I have until Sunday to formulate my argument for a better deal. And to make plans to leave ATT altogether if they don't give it to me. No wireless, no U-verse, No DSL.

I also have until Sunday to get over being annoyed so I can be nice to the sales person

I thought this is launching on the 22nd.. how are people getting devices now? Any idea what the no contract price would be? Would I be able to buy this without a monthly plan?

How did you get the 9700? I went to letstalk.com and it says "Coming Soon!" What gives?

Oh I see. Your girlfriend must be on T-Mo. The (T-Mo) 9700 is available but not the (AT&T) 9700. Oh well

I was on craigslist last night, and I am getting the 9700 for $425. Why bother with these contracts.
