I just got home from the Verizon store. I am now receiving a 15% discount on my total bill because I am a Federal employee. I live in the DC metro area. Not sure if this is a nationwide thing or if it includes troops. But, it's worth checking out.
I had to go to the store and show them my work ID in order to get the discount.
I get a 15% discount on my monthly service for my personal Verizon phones because my Gov't agency employer provides me with a Verizon blackberry. It's not limited to the DC area.

Good post....this can let other users know what options VZW has... I'm military and I get a 15% discount off my bill and 10% off accessories... not too shabby...
Anyone know if there's a discount for US Postal Service employees?
Yes, Postals discount is 25%...I'm a postal contractor but I use my company's discount of 20% (Northrop Grumman). When I tried to use the postal discount they didnt give it to me because when they checked against some system I didnt pop up under postal. But hey I cant complain 20% is better than nothing. By the way dont forget the data / voice bundle. You save more using that and applying the discount to it.
Thanks to you guys, I went in yesterday to see if I could get a military discount. Gave them my ID and 10 minutes later I walked out with a 15% discount on my bill and 25% off accessories! I am now thinking of getting VZNavigator. Can you see your discount on My Verizon? I was looking, but I didn't see anything.

The discount comes in handy with one cell and two berries
I work for a private engineering consulting firm and I get a 6% discount per month (better than nothing). on verizon's website, there's a section for you to enter your work email address and they'll send you an email if you're eligible. funny part was that i forwarded it to human resources and they didn't even know. hehe.
There are lots of companies that get an employee discount (teachers as well, to the previous poster). If you have a work email address [email protected], you can go to their website and enter that in and it will tell you if you do receive it and add it to your account. The account has to be in your name. If you don't have an email address, go to a store, and show them your work id and it will take 1-2 bill cycles for your discount to show.
You get a access discount off the monthly access charge. If you are the primary line in a family share, you will get the discount off the primary charge. If you have any features, you also get a smaller discount off that. I think this is where you will get a discount on your bb email and web plans. Also you get your discounts off accessories. If the store discount is better than the employee discount, we will give you the better.
So, if the primary number on the account is in my name, but the Postal employee is my wife, then I need to switch the account to her name and technically make her the one with the BB and data plan to maximize the discount? Is that something they'll allow us to do? If Verizon won't, I'll get it switched by Alltel before the merger...
I get 20% off the calling plan and 22% off data features with my employer discount. I also get a pretty good discount when purchasing a new phone. I got my wife the Pearl for 79 bucks and I got my Curve for 119 with my employer discounts. It would have cost me 100 bucks more for both.
