Until there's something more concrete, I'm not buying it... A rumour is a rumour is a rumour...
I agree and the rush to rename the forum on here and churn about half a dozen articles on the rumoured name just seem a bit silly.

If this is true, im glad the name has changed... completely different branding and separation from the legacy os is essential!!!

although i quite liked london tbh....

as w/ the standard weights & measures vs. metric, we in the U.S. are just too stubborn, maybe even lazy, to make that big of a change to what is so nationally cemented & widespread,,, Zed won't fly here,,, i can hear the jokes now,,, sounds like some ol' redneck relative of the Beverly Hillbillies,,, even Z10 is a litte too mechanical, as many have mentioned it's application to cars etc.,,, the military "Zulu" phonetic might fly here,,, whatever it is, it needs to sound as big & badass as the OS it will be representing...

I dont see why they'd call it the L-series only to name it something that doesn't start with an L

I would prefer BlackBerry Zero for the name of all BlackBerry 10 smartphones. The problem began when Research In Motion intended to increment BlackBerry X to BlackBerry XI; the OS name 'X' should be generic and version numbers such as v1.2.3 hidden from the product name.

that same question can be asked about the prototype names of the old legacy devices. Manaco, Montana, etc then released with names like Bold, Curve, Torch, etc.

Z10 is a terrible name. What are they thinking?

Just keep it dubbed the BlackBerry London. It sounds high end and more professional than Z10.

It's not going to keep me from buying it but from a marketing standpoint I think Z10 is a terrible name.

Good job that despite cb.com's eagerness to rebrand the l-series forum that this is only a rumour at this stage based on one single pic that looks like it would be fairly trivial to create by anyone who was even halfway competent.

they should do a research before they start giving names like these...
it sounds too Sony Ericsson's lines of phones.
do a wiki on Sony Ericsson lines... there's more than just a V, W, X and Z series..
they should have maintained the L and N series... or London and Arista.

I don't like the name, at all, but the philosophy behind the naming convention as Mr. Crackberry himself broke it down makes a lot of sense. Last night when I was out with a bunch of friends, we talked about tech for a bit and everyone was asked which phones they have, the people with iPhones just said "iPhone" but then after they would say which model exactly when asked. If you have an Android or Windows Phone, you usually have to say which model since there are a whole bunch of them.

I'm just worried about how they'll name the next one. The Z10 2 or the Z11 don't sound catchy or household name worthy enough.

I have some mixed feelings about the name change but I am looking forward to seeing how it all turns out .

Personally, I think the codenames would sound cooler. How epic does it sound saying "I own a BlackBerry London " or I own an "Aristo "
" I guess you didn't know that my Excelsior could do that" (if there would be a BlackBerry Excelsior )

    Just my thoughts

Sounds like a sports car to me. I like it. Easy to remember and doesn't sound bad either as a Zed or a Zee. But one question...what does the "Z" stand for?

I have a theory.... or according to the guy on the other thread it's a hypothesis as it's not proven, but anyway. I think it could be related to the Rim/QNX tie up with Chevy. Chevrolet are already advertising the fancy dashboard on the Dodge Dart powered by QNX, there was a Jeep reference vehicle, and I believe the demo police cruiser controlled by QNX was a Dodge Charger.

The 69 Camaro came in a Z10 version, so if they are launching this as a superphone, they could have named it after Chevy's old supercar, and paying homage to this will appeal to American audience
Z10 at the name of the first BB10 phone-z10-camaro.jpg

The Z10 is also a more modern supercar, the BMW Z10 so that will appeal to everyone else in the world

What is so wrong with London and Nevada? Or L-series and N-Series? Or maybe just L and N?
IMHO, Z10 doesn't fit with the current device design or OS design.. The home screen looks so bland, and the device looks completely high end. So why Z10? That sounds like something a teen would buy. Completely out of place.

My first free association upon hearing the name was with Z100 radio station in New York.
Mine was simply not liking how it sounds. We'll see how it goes over (if true). Lots of things sound bad at first. ipad, etc. Then we get used to it and it becomes cool.

Maybe Thorsten called it "The Ten" but the marketing guys misunderstood him, and heard "Zee Ten".
    That's what I thought.

Either him or one of the French Canadians in RIM...
