Interesting thing happened today: one online store was selling the Z10 for R$450 (roughly $200 USD).

Average price for the Z10 is around R$1500 ($660 USD), through Black Friday and such it went for R$900 ($400 USD).

BlackBerry may be going for a PlayBook style price cut.

(Most online retailers and carriers are either "out of stock" or not even listing the Z10 anymore, this might help getting them back on the shelves again and actually start moving some units).

List price is just about S4 territory, this is about on par with the Lumia 520.

Nokia announced a dual sim Lumia, I assume BlackBerry will follow suit and stick to this price point to gain some market share back.

Mind you the Q5 is only available through the "officially licensed" BlackBerry shop for R$1700 ($775 USD) and the Q10 goes for R$2700 ($1200 USD), no Z30 as of now (and I can't even imagine what that one would cost).

I think they are clearing inventory to make way for upcoming phones. The z3 will hit Latin America soon too and will likely be under $200. It would be difficult to sell the. 1yo z10 at $600.

Offer was on for just a few hours, so it might as well be just that particular retailer cutting their losses.

Two years ago, it was this exact same store that began to sell the PlayBook for half price (R$450, actually). It used to be listed as an oficial retailer on br.blackberry.com and was one of the few that still had the Z10 in stock.

As for "marketing": BlackBerry has been slow to react and adapt, pricing isn't right (as you can see by the current list prices). I'm glad to promote a good product and if the Z10 starts popping up at other retailers with this price, it might pave the way for some increase in userbase around these parts.

The Lumia 520 and the Moto G are selling like hot cakes here for a reason (and at this price point the Z10 is certainly the better option, unless you're really tied to another ecosystem).
