Lol. Fun to watch the blind ugly hatred flow. Welcome to cb.

Congrats on the new phone jegs... You got a good price ;-).

Don't listen to the hatred. Who knows whether you'll love it , hate it, like it.... Of course coming from this atmosphere your going to be pre- biased , at least subconsciously. As an example,I never found pressing a home button onerous ROFL! I prefer swipe methodologies, well.... Not all the time, I very much like having a physical button I know will work in times of uncertainty... Its Ctrl apt delete when need be - but anyways, it was never a burden but you'd think it was from the forums lol!

If you have an open mind, and get through the learning curve with positive mindset, you're likely to be one of the majority of iPhone users who range from satisfied to enthusiastic. As with all things, some won't like it at all... And you could be one of them... But numbers wise the iPhone is one of the products you are least likely to be highly discontent with - customer satisfaction is high. Hope its at least the 4s! Even that is getting long in the tooth!

I have a theory. Bare with me for a minute. You're gonna love using an iPhone. You really are. It's a great experience moving forward. iOS is a really slick, fast and fancy operating system. The iPhone does quite a bit. I think it will definitely steal you away from that old BBOS. I think you'll like it so much that you'll try a BB10 device and compare it to the iPhone. I believe then you will fascinated with BlackBerry again. Just a theory.
Yeah, so I'm getting an iPhone-blackberry-coxktail_edit.jpeg

The Apple phone is secondary to the app launcher. It is an iPod with a crappy phone slapped onto it.
    You're promoting it wrong.
My evidence is only circumstantial, but it broadly agrees with yours. Call quality on some iphone 3GS handsets and several 4 and 4S handsets that I have tried, has been:
    1. Inferior to my Nokia cellphone, old BlackBerry Curve 8310, Droid X and current BlackBerry Q10
    2. On par with my Droid Incredible 2.

All iphones so far have been great smartphones, just as long as you don't count the keyboard (and possibly call quality) as part of one's smartphone experience. The app experience is indeed second to none.

It's not a bad phone, an there are arguably some advantages for some (ie apps, compatability with other iStuff etc), it's just not a BlackBerry, and more importantly, doesn't run BB10.

Got a new job, and they're issuing me an iPhone (4s I think) through AT&T. Asked about getting something else, but I'd have to pay extra for it, and free is always better. And they don't want me using my personal phone for business. Since I hardly ever use my personal phone anyway, except for chatting with my wife ... it would remain mostly dormant, sucking up money.

Up until now, I'd been able to crow about never having used a slab-phone, with the exception of messing around with my wife's Note II.

Well, my trusty 9930 will go into hibernation shortly, since I can't justify keeping it active.

    iPhone.

Oh well, guess I'll have to do what ever other twelve-year-old on the planet has done and learn how to use the thing.
The same happened to my friend, going from BB to corpo iPhone. On the first day, he thought he would stomp the iPhone to the ground.
    So, just to warn you.

Congratulations on the new job! Lots of people use iPhones and seem quite happy. What I suspect will get a LOT of getting used to will be typing on it. You may find yourself being unusually brief as the experience will be far less efficient than your current, first in class, physical keyboard. I'm on a Z30, and even with that very good touchscreen keyboard I am typing a little bit less. But not so much as two of my contacts that have a signature set on every outgoing mail on their iPhone that states that they are being brief as they are typing this on an iPhone. LOL.

Seriously, sorry to see you go. BBM is a good way of remembering your BB roots, though.

I'm not sure how people find the typing experience on the iPhone to be so terrible to the point where they dump their phone. Yeah, the Z10 and Z30 keyboards are far and away better, but the iPhone keyboard is far from unusable. Hence why the iPhone hasn't failed as of yet.

It has all the latest apps, still plenty of support form Apple software wise and has a large ecosystem to go along with it.

You wouldn't accept any 'enlightenment' anyways. You seem like you have a very strong opinion on it already anyways. We don't need a full on iPhone vs BlackBerry argument in this thread, let's not start one.

Work with your Security team and ask them what MDM Solution they are using. If not BES 10, try to let them know the advantages of the platform. Getting this in as a first step, if not already in the company will help in the long run. If you speak to anyone that has managed Blackberry's in the past, they are usually not aware that BES 10 manages IOS and Androind, and Windows 8 towards the end of the year.

Dude... TgeekB... I'm a phone guy.
I've been a phone guy for 35 years. I may not be the be all end all phone guy but I have a huge amount of experience. My ears are very well tuned and trained for phone calls. I notice things that many others wouldn't care to notice. I work in the technical aspect of telephony.
Go ahead and disagree. iPhone call quality is worse than BB.
My Q10 call quality (on both of the ones that I have owned) is noticeably worse than my iPhone 5...even to my untrained ear!

    His device, his experience.

Just like how everyone on Crackberry told me the Q10 had superlative battery life only to get it and still have a device that could not last the day.

Some of the comments in this topic are downright bizarre.

"Moving from a Blackberry to an iPhone will just drive you insane"

Weird comment when one considers that tens of millions of former diehard Blackberry users have dumped their devices for iPhones, and make up the massive number of people that are very satisfied with their purchase. I haven't seen a flood of insane people either

"iPhone is a toy because no inbuilt file manager and you cannot put attachments in email replies. it's basically good for only apps"

Good job reinforcing the notion that most diehard BB users are stuck in the past. The smartphone experience these days is all about the apps and UI experience and less about 'email attachments'. Before sideloading apks became a thing, you could open, view and edit AutoCAD files on your iPhone. You couldn't do that on a BlackBerry device. Sometimes the apps you people dismiss gives the phones that extra level of productivity.

I had to chuckle at someone claiming better expertise at determining call quality because of decades spent in the telephony industry. All you need is a pair of ears

The cool factor!!!! Not call quality. My z 10 NEVER had a call drop or lose signal in a conversation. Work issued iPhone 4s, drops all the time and find it easier to let my cients call and let it ring through to voice mail so I can stand a better chance of getting the message.

There's no arguement, if you argue it you have never used a blackberry or your in here to dispute the truth just to cause trouble.

No problem. I've probably owned 10 different blackberrys. I've owned iphones (my wife has the 4s). I've owned Androids. My wife hasn't had any call issues but that doesn't mean others haven't.
