1st question: I don't have Yahoo messenger but I'm assuming that if you go to the options, there must be an option that lets you turn off the feature of having the messages go to your messages folder.
2nd question: If you're under a data plan on ATT, then most likely Yahoo messenger uses data. I'm not too sure on this though.
