Does it have to be either this or that?
Why not both??? That's what consumers truly want isn't it?

Yes , displays are equivalent . The camera is somewhat better on the Moto whereas the battery is better on the Z30. The main advantage of the Moto from the point of view of hardware is its trim dimensions - the same size as a Z10 but with a 4.7 inch screen.

Right. So it's all dependent on what someone needs. Both are fast devices. Spec numbers don't change that in day to day experience at this point.

As luck would have it my carrier does not sell the MotoX but does sell the Z30. I will wait for the Q20.

I thing the hardware is in good shape for another year or so.......Apps are ok so far, coming along nicely.
Software needs big time help, I'm still waiting for my phone to ring when its supposed to!!!!!!!!!
I'd have both: better software and new phones.
This mix seems to follow naturally: New phones tend to have better softwares than old phones.
In my case, though, I'm perfectly happy with my (not-so-new) Z10 STL 100-1, running the latest official OS version 10.2.1.2141.
When a new official OS becomes available I download it to my Z10 and I get happier.

Agreed. I'll go with both. Besides, the current models should have OS updates, anyway.
You can't have one without the other if you want to compete with android and apple. Advertising would help too...

Software please. Waiting for 3.1 so that my z10 can become a new phone again. It's like I'm upgrading every time there is an OS update. Love it.

I'd go for software, I would say a biased decision with my background as a developer. But if we are into an end user interaction/experience, it is the software who does most of it and the hardware backs it up.
... as simple as, we are enjoying the CB10 app.

Well considering I'm tied to my physical phone improved os I say! Lol

Easy to answer, if I put my Z10 that has installed the 10.3 against a Z10 with the initial10.0 on it, guess which one will be the winner?
The market is now about having the latest CPU and GPU, or having the screen with more pixels or just make the phone with more cores, but, what happen with the user experience?
We are buying new hardware when with software optimizations and improvements an old phone can feel like a new one.

Um...
Z10 with 10.0?...
As I've read, at this stage10.3 is a leak (a prototype, really) that has many flaws and is not recommended to be used on a daily driver.
This said, 10.2 builds are definitely better in almost all aspects (some like battery life on Z10, as well as certain UI and connectivity issues remain unaltered) than 10.0 builds.
Considering this, I'd say a Z10 on 10.2 OS should then be the "no brainer", that is until 10.3 official (at least not such a lame leak as it seems to be right now) comes out and gets scrutinized at CB.

Get to the point, what I'm trying to say is that the phone is getting improved and more functional with just software updates.
Also I'm using the leak and isn't not full of flaws like you are saying. Is a prototype but is usable and I see it as a vision of what my phone will become when this OS become official.
For example, the camera on 10.3 is faster, the quality of the pictures is much better and has more options that when the phone was released, so is true that 10.3 is a leak, but even with 10.2.1 you can see the difference in performance from previous OS 10 versions.

Well, that would be one part of the point, I guess. The other part's this: To each, it's own. Some, like you, like running leaks, others, like me, don't.
Bottom line: At this stage in development no one can actually prove that current 10.3 leak runs better than 10.2 official, but the Z10 will be a keeper as long as new official BB10 OS builds keep on being pushed out there.
...
(Btw, are you French?)

Can we get to a middle point? Lol
I'm not french, why?

I'd like more old-school arcade-style games Space Invaders (BlackBerry PlayBook and Z10) and BitBlaster (BlackBerry Q5).
Posted via CB10
Think this is a daft question, they both go hand in hand, one without the other is pointless.

Another post, pardon me if I'll be citing my android experience. I know this is BlackBerry forum. But, I believe I'm still into the topic.
My Motorola Razr, makes itself interesting again when I did an upgrade from ICS stock to CM11 running KitKat.

You should wait to compare the S5 to the Q20, Z40 or Z3 instead. The Z30 can be compared to the S4.

OS and QNX at the core means we are in good hands. So I believe the OS is much more important.
I don't need the latest and greatest hardware with the highest screen resolution. I'm not watching videos on my Z30 except for an occasional youtube one every once in a while.
I'd much more prefer stability, battery life and a phone that remains the built for business mantra.

Both, of course. BlackBerry is a tech company - that means they have to keep moving at all costs. The market demands that and they just have to deliver.

New hardware is always fun, but software gets the vote!
Fully awake and catching my Z's, Z10 and Z30!
