The 9860 had a bigger screen than the iPhone at that time. I used the 9860 last Dec when I was in the Philippines, it was a fine phone. Responds quick and was smooth. The keyboard was really small though

I had a storm 1 the day it came out. The OS was way too buggy!! After a year of updates it was tolerable.

I upgraded to a storm 2 after a year. I absolutely loved that phone. If that had been the storm 1, blackberry would have won and apple would have lost.

So many people were disgusted with the storm1, they wouldn't even touch the storm2, even though they were totally different phones!

It's true what they say, first impressions last.

BlackBerry keep screwing that up by releasing sub-standard first versions of products and "fixing" them later with software updates after the majority of people have already been put off ever giving BlackBerry another chance.

That's why it might be a good thing no one bought bb10 phones last year, because 10.2 is about where they needed to be at launch...now people are actually looking at the phones and they're getting some ok reveiws.

Let's hope Chen has been saving up the pennies for a new marketing push, but this time actually show the phone and its features and target the audience to those who are likely to buy it.

Unfortunately as far as the consumer market goes that means not most of the developed world any more. Marketing there is just throwing good money after bad.

I keep seeing the Storm series mentioned in the phones we hated threads. The Storm 2 was my first BlackBerry. I liked it. It worked well. The email was fast and efficient. Media and browsing weren't great though which is where iOS excelled.

The Storm was flawed for sure, but boy was it so much easier to type on it (esp after you taped a dime to the back of the battery) than the dammed torch 9860. Plus the torch had that issue with the back button failing (and people pouring alcohol on it to "clean it", etc.)

You'd think they really wanted to get rid of their user base...

I'm sorry... why did you need to tape a dime to the back of the battery? Sounds bizarre.

The worst BlackBerry device I have used is a BlackBerry Curve 9360. It's battery life was horrible, only lasting a maximum of 3 hours. That turned a good phone into one effed up phone!

    I've had the 8100, 8320, 8800, 8820, 8900, 9000, 9700, 9780, 9900, 9810, Z10, Q10 and Z30... and none of them were bad.

I rarely got the spinning clock or had to do battery pulls, because I always had media card in my phone and never loaded a ton of apps.

There is no worst for me, though I tried the original Storm (my friend had found one in a bathroom, which might be the perfect place for it), and it was just.... not good.

My Storm 1 died as a result of my fist smashing it to pieces. That sure press garbage would never work if there was a hint of humidity in the air! The Storm 2 had the same problem to a lesser extent.

I'd have to give my vote to the 9850/60. Had the 9850 and absolutely loved it when i first got it, but it quickly turned into a love/hate relationship. The constant memory leak, battery drain, freezing, freezing, and more freezing! I never had hardware issues like others had with the back button, but i went through two 9850's that had the same software issues that nearly made the device unusable. It pretty much destroyed my faith in BlackBerry and i was ready to move onto another platform, but decided to give the Z10 a chance...and boy am i glad i did! :-D

Guess we'll never know what possessed BlackBerry to put a puny 1000 mAh battery in the 9360. It would have been a decent little Curve phone otherwise.

I have to say it was the storm. That phone convinced so many people not to ever go back to BlackBerry it's not even funny. My roommate for example swore off BlackBerry for life after his storm.

As for the 9860 I loved mine. It was a great phone and had much better battery life than my Z10. Typing was a bit of a pain when with the reduced keyboard and the plastic screen wouldn't read my fingers in the cold but aside from that it was an excellent piece and very nicely built.

9800. I've never cursed a phone as much as that one. Froze up, slow, but the worst was if the phone moved while talking, it would go into landscape mode and trigger the speaker.

I loved the look and feel of the 9850...the hardware was great - actually was hoping they would keep that style for the BB10 phones ; my 9850 always stood out nicely among the crowd of touchscreen slabs. If not for the software issues, it would have been a great device for me.

LOL... it was a bizarre but life-changing solution for the storm. Basically, it had to do with how the 'surepress' mechanism (in which the entire screen literally clicked inward when you pressed it) worked. I think the travel distance of the screen as it came was slightly too large and so it required a tiring amount of force to press down, which made you slow down as you tried to type fast. Taping the dime to the back of the battery somehow tightened up everything inside the phone, reducing the required travel distance of the screen, and making it significantly 'crisper'/lighter to press.

And yes... that 'fix' came directly from a CB forum post...

Needless to say, the Z10 and the Z30 are light years ahead in terms of touch-screen execution.

I often wondered what the 9300 was like to live with, I only never used one for an hour or so.

Sounds exactly like my experience of BBOS 7 Curves and here was me thinking that the software rot started there.

I thought I was the only one that hated that phone and that I had a unique dud, till I met a guy at school who had the same problems.
Props to BlackBerry for being where they are now, compared to what they had back then tho!
