I came across this article today with a link to a news story about a RIM employee sending a letter to management.

I see it was posted on the forums when it first came out, but there are alot of new people on Crackberry who have not seen or read this letter .
And I wonder what if looking back has much changed at BlackBerry?

I like my phone I think its great, but I do see on the forums people talking about what the new 10 os is missing when it comes to what the old systems offeered and what the new have.
And has much changed at BlackBerry when we see phones being released with issues. Which is a point that is made in the letter to the higher management.
Just wonder what any of you think?

Hope you don't take offense to my reply, but here's the problem that has penetrated this forum...misinformation.

How do you, or anyone for that matter, know that this letter was actually written by a "high level" RIM employee? I could have written it...it's unsubstantiated, along with it's supposed response from RIM.

Same goes for what you read, as far as SOME of the complaints, that have made the rounds on this site. There are soooooo many new BlackBerry users coming from other platforms, that obsolutely do not know how to use the device they bought, so they complain and point fingers, instead of admitting that they simply do not know how to use a Z or a Q, the way that it was meant to be used. For example: there have been many camera complaints. Many. When I read these complaints, it's very easy to determine a common factor - the user doesn't know how to simply use a camera. I don't mean open an app, point and shoot. That's not using, that's being haphazard. An accident waiting to happen. A newly licensed driver isn't a gauge to go by.

I have a friend, long time member here, that was going by that same haphazard gauge, when it came to a device they were interested in, the Q10. After reading "all" of the threads, the only thing that stuck out in their head was the supposed problems with the device. I build hybrids, write code, and tinker. I'm an awesome detective. I told my friend to STOP accepting information from the misinformed, get the device of your choice, and I'll walk you thru the basics. Today, everything that my friend digested previously, has been proven to be what it was/is in the first place - USER ERROR.

The only thing "wrong" with OS10, is people expecting it to be BBOS4-7.1... IT'S NOT! It's OS10. BlackBerry's problem is people EXPECTING things from a company that many are only CUSTOMERS of, and haven't invested in the company at all. Buying a device isn't investing in a company, it's being a comsumer. Most of the consumers complaining, didn't even read the "user agreement", because they IMMEDIATELY agreed to be ignorant - "ignorant" does not mean anything other than "the ACT of ignore". It's this immediacy that opens a HUGE door to a major let down, if something doesn't work as expected. And it's this insane level of over expectation, that leads to complaints. All user related, just like user errors.

I'm not one to EVER take anyone's word for something that comes with a clear set of instructions. If you do not understand the instructions, you either ask for help or put it down. It's just that simple. It's ok not to understand something. But to based your understanding on someone else's LACK there of...that's not a reasonably smart thing to EVER do.

    Just saying...

    7) Sales channels: I heard someone telling this story around the office. Their sister went in to a local carrier store to buy a new BlackBerry, replacing an Android phone they didn’t like. They walked in with $400 in hand and wanted a BlackBerry, and walked out with an iPhone. When the sister asked the carrier sales rep for a BlackBerry, they talked her out of a BlackBerry by telling her how bad they are, then offered her an iPhone for $39. How could the sister resist, after having the Blackberry trashed (slow, useless, hard to use), and then a price like that for a competing product dangled in front of her? When our only avenue to selling our devices is through a ‘neutral’ 3rd party, and is just as happy to sell someone a competitors product as ours, we are at their mercy.

    8) Marketing: My friends love to poke me and make fun of our ads. Sure, BlackBerry seems to be sponsoring a lot of concerts and baseball games, but looking at my circle of friends and family, no one cares about that. Our marketing is boring, our ads are plain, and completely uninteresting. The whole campaign around the Playbook seems to be “IT DOES FLASH! LOOK!” … but honestly, my mother doesn’t know or care about that. She wants to know ‘can I play Angry Birds?”.

this was wrote in 2011 and it could have been written last month. sounds familiar.
Thats my point of asking if we are seeing much change from then til now in how Blackberry are running their company.
