Ah yes, the Nielsen/Norman group. From the same brilliant minds that brought you such stunning discoveries as: "mobile device screens are smaller than desktop device screens" and "English readers read from left to right".
Not to undermine everything they've done, but a lot of their research is total crap. Especially some of their eye-tracking nonsense.
I linked to that because I just happened to have read it. Aside from that there has been quite a bit of apprehension in the tech blogosphere over the weirdness of the Windows 8 UI.
The doubters might all be wrong but MS is taking a gamble, a big one. Alas they have no choice.
