Just curious if any has heard anything... I thought the Tour would be the answer to this question but I was wrong  .

Just curious if any has heard anything... I thought the Tour would be the answer to this question but I was wrong  .
Can you be a little more clear? What do you consider world phone? Because the Tour is technically a "world phone."
Sorry the thread was suppose to say " world phone with *WIFI*" Don't know how to change the header...
Well, the Storm 2 is *rumoured* to have WIFI..and being on VZ and Vodafone having a high 45-49% stake in VZ, they'll make it a world phone.
Oh, ok. Well all BB's after the Tour is said to have wifi. So I guess wait for the next BB after the Tour and BAM, wifi.
Storm 2 should have wifi and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a world phone since the Storm 1 was one.
I agree....hope we are correct...would've thought the tour would have what the storm didn't
Hmm... That's the best CB news I've heard in a while if its true...
Fixed it for you :)
What do u mean world phone.....bold bootscreen shows world phone....and it has wifi....

The Bold on ATT is 3g world phone w wifi...
oh dear.. perhaps the Mod can change the title again?..
ta-dah!>>>> CDMA world phone with wifi?..
I frankly dont understand the myopia of Sprint & VZ with regard to BB's and wifi.. Surely someone in those companies KNOWS that CDMA is not a world standard and also travels internationally?..
If only TMO had a better overall 3G network coverage I would be there like a shot... Wifi and UMA is the poor mans international roaming!...
I am getting slowly tired of committing more and more to my BB yet leaving it on the dresser when i travel 6 times a year...
Thank you...
So, to make sure I understand, the Storm 2 is rumored to have wifi, correct?
What does "rumored" really mean? like 50-50 chance? 70-30?
Or, given it's use on VZW, 100% for everyone but Verizon?
(I realize that no one really knows at this point, just looking for any speculation by those who always seem to know this sort of stuff)
Doesn't really make sense to not include WIFI on CDMA phones.. their Windows Mobile phones prior to that have WIFI. Check the PPC-6700 on Sprint, and the XV6700 on Verizon. Same goes for their bigger brothers, the 6800, 6900..etc
This is more a carrier issue than a RIM issue. Sprint and VZ are not big fans of wifi on BB devices.

Bold = World phone (quad-band) with Wifi
Problem solved
Haha, yeah, I agree. CDMA is aging and GSM is the global standard now. You will rarely find CDMA carriers other then in the U.S.A/Canada. We're North America... shouldn't we be on top of the game? Or have been for that matter? .. But that's just me. For me, GSM is important because I travel frequently and prefer to use local SIM cards.
That will all change when LTE comes out. That will be the standard everywhere no more gsm or cdma.
Don't mind my ignorance ...
... but isn't LTE based on GSM?
I've never heard it was "based" on GSM.
I tired to read the wiki article about LTE but couldnt find anything that clearly stated it was based on GSM
It's not based on GSM, but an evolution of GSM. Once could argue UMTS is based on CDMA. So all in all, these technologies (gsm vs cdma) aren't all too different - but different enough.
