I have tried wifi from a router working perfectly with a laptop just next to me, the 8900 wouldn't obtain an IP address (I tried WPA, WEP, battery pull, changed the security key, changed various settings on the phone and the router, nothing. I had had the same problem with the free wifi in a Macdonalds and again in the subway).
Then for no reason at all it started working. I used it for 30 minutes on Opera Mini, worked very well and fast. Then, after doing absolutely nothing special, it stopped working (I quit Opera for a few minutes then came back).
I had obviously changed nothing since it worked, I have no idead why it stopped working. Again, battery pull, nothing worked. The laptop still used wifi normally, and as before the 8900 saw the network but couldn't obtain an IP address.
What can I do? I have OS 4.6.1.133 (platform 4.2.0.85).
start basic....uninstall opera....double check wifi preferred in mobile network options.....check general settings make sure you have the right browser deployed.....
