Long time lurker, first time poster - love this site!

Anyhow, just got my 9650 from Sprint and this is my first BB with WIFI on it. I expected that when I'm connected to my home WIFI network, the internet browsing and overall 'net' experience would be faster, as such on my wife's iPhone. However, it seems that when I'm connected to my N router, the internet browsing is the same as the 3g (1XEV), if not slower.

I've also noticed some other things, such as when I'm using the Facebook app with WIFI connected as well as the mobile network connected, it's VERY slow. If I turned WIFI off and just use the mobile network, it's faster. In addition, when I turn off the mobile network and just use the WIFI, it's significantly faster.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Mine is really fast. How good is your connection to your network? Have you checked?

Your connection to your router might have some sort of problem.

I assume you've already updated to OS 5.0.0.699?

I have same issue. If I turn of sprints network and only use wifi it works great. Or if I just use 3g its good. But when there both on together web pages hang and loading pages isn't to quick.

I'm connected to a Linksys router. Browsing the web, using Twitter for BlackBerry/Facebook for BlackBerry work, and other internet-connected apps work very well and very quickly.

Be sure to set your Browser to use wifi and not 3g while having both on by selecting it in general options perhaps. I don't know it should be lightning fast. ive used my friends bold 9650 at my house and he has no issues with that.

I've selected the Hotspot browser, same thing. I'm connected using WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] as my security settings with "Upto 300mpbs". I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. It connects fine; it's just slow.

On a side note, I turned off the QoS rule as well as WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia Settings). I'll report back soon.

If you're wifi is not faster than 3g then something is definitely wrong.

xtreme labs speedtest is really good on blackberrys. The link in the 3rd party app is now broken though. I had mine for a while. I'll look and see if there is another
