new 9700 browser won't let me surf the web without wifi.. Obviously a software thing.. is there a known workaround for this? Sort of sucks I can't even google search anymore, where as my 9000 can do it fine.

I guess it's their plan to force people to use medianet and yahoo search. (biz dev, biz dev, ding ding ding) and yahoo search results are cluttered with a screen full of sponsored results! Yikes!

    Anyway, workarounds?

You don't need a workaround, or wifi... it works fine without.

It's not a software thing, and should work exactly as it did on your 9000.

Do you have a BB data plan?

Hit Menu>Options>General Settings and set your default browser to Internet Browser. It might be set to Hotspot Browser, which uses wifi. Just a guess, hope that does it.

yes it is always a good idea to get "that SIM chip" installed, especially uh, if you want to make a call, send a text, send an email, or use the browser
