I am looking at T-mobile's 9810. I currently use a 9800 unlocked & setup for UMA. The new release for the 9810 has WIFI calling. Is there a way to get true UMA on it & not WIFI calling. They are different because UMA will hand off to the cell tower & wifi calling will NOT. On my 9800 I had to go into the "hidden Screen" and set it up, but I didnt see it on the 9810's hidden screen.

there is no way to enable UMA on the 9810. they have switched to wifi calling and will not offer true UMA any longer.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the specs on the blackberry website & UMA was an option for the 9810. The funny thing is I have a 9800, this phone was for At&t customers only. I unlocked it & was able to setup UMA. At&t doesnt have UMA on there network & this phone was not for t-mobile. I am not a fan a WIFI calling. I tried it for a short time with a HTC phone. UMA is WAYYYYYYY better. I love my 9800 but really wanted to have a faster then EDGE (2G) speed when I am not at home or near WIFI for data. Switching to AT&T is not a option either, I have unlimited data with T-mobile.

This is more like UMA-lite, which is the same exact thing as UMA except no hand over edge (or 3g or whatever you have).

Only device that is true UMA and is OS 7 is the curve 9360 (I assume the 9370 and 9380 too).

WFC on BlackBerry is going to be different (better) than your experience with WFC on the Android HTC. WFC is exactly as automatic on the 9810's OS 7.1 as UMA is on the 9800's OS 6.0. As soon as I upgraded my 9810 to OS 7.1, poof I instantly had WFC.

You won't see WFC options on the 9810 engineering screens unless it's running OS 7.1; OS 7.0 doesn't have them.

Except for the fact that it won't hand off. Not a big deal, in my book, but for those that need that functionality, you will not be able to get it any longer.

WFC will drop your call when you cross over to the cell tower, UMA is way better. You get the handoff.
