As I am new to Blackberry I am a bit confused, I am due to go away on holiday soon and dont want to incur any charges for using my net abroad.
Now I will turn of my mobile network and want to use my wifi, but my data service is set to turn off when roaming. But I have noticed if that is turned off wifi does not connect
So does that mean I cant use my wifi unless data service is on? But does that not mean I will get charged for using my data?
btw I am on voda uk not sure if that makes a difference.
When I traveled to Europe recently all I did was turn off the Mobile network the entire time.
I left the data services on.
I did not incur any data charges.
I just checked for you, you cannot get wifi if you have turned off.
Right vodafone has said I will get charged to use my data 5 per day up to 25mb.
But I think it sucks to have a phone like this and not be able to use my wifi for free! Why did rim do this as all other phone wifi you can just use and not incur any charges when abroad providing you are connected to a free wifi.

I don't think that's accurate but that's just my opinion.
-I suggest calling and speaking with a different and maybe a more knowledgeable rep.
-check voda and RiM's website for more info.
And this is a stretch but an ipod touch is a good option,as it has wifi.
