You get 48mbps because that's what the wifi card can handle at that signal strength.

You will NEVER get that on a data transfer...EVER!

Do a mobile speed test to see real results.

That's your LAN data rate for the WiFi. G band can run up to 54Mbps.

I seriously doubt the phones CPU would do data transfers across the LAN at those speeds.

But, realize that, just because the WiFi connects @ that rate, you are limited to the speed of the internet connection.

I have a 1Gbps ethernet card in my laptop. My home network switch runs at 1Gbps. My WiFI connects @ 54Mbps. But, because of where I live, the only internet connection I get is 1.5Mbps (DSL). So, while my data rate on WiFi says 54Mbps, I'm only going to be able to surf from my BB @ 1.5Mbps.

Let's pull this thread back up. The OP's point was that his device does not connect at 54Mbit, only 48 Mbit. I experience the same issue.

Also, Bold 9900, a wireless-n device cannot connect on N, only G and at 48Mbit.

Why can our Blackberries not establish full G connections or N connections?

i don't haz my own internet since i moved, i have free internet over here lol.
only 2/3 bars but it would let me do the job. i know it's bad, but hey their own responsibility. but sssht!
and it's oke pairing with my 9900 and i see no problems, only that i kind of steal their internet which is actually given free to me.
would be awesome when i stream and it lags on their side. priceless..
Riiiiight..... so someone walks in the street, get shot and dies... I guess it's his own responsability because he didn't wear bulletproof jacket, right?

At least don't brag about it!
