I have a bb under bell mobility nl canada. My husband is in england with his bb which is also bell mobility in newfoundland canada. He is connected to wi-fi at his hotel. I know with wi-fi you can go on e-mail and internet for free. But is texting also free? Can we bbm for free? Thanks!

BBM should go over wifi too, so you'll be fine. It's regular sms texting that won't.

As I understand it, BBM is free as it runs on Blackberry's servers and is provided free of charge to BB owners. Texting runs on your provider's servers so they charge you. WiFi is just a bridge to the internet. If you access the internet via the WiFi function of your BB you will not be using "data" as defined by your carrier. Thus, internet access does not run up your data usage and result in a big bill.
I have BBM'd with folks in Saudi Arabia from the US with no charge, so intercontinental BBM should work for you. I hope this helps, now you can BBM with hubby at will
