Why Old Blackberry OS-7 Still Rocks In Nigeria-blackberry-os7-still-rocks-nigeria1.png
Yes! blackberry bold and curve rocks in Nigeria, partly because they are the cheapest, coupled with affordable data plan. You pay as low as 1000Naira for 3 GB of data monthly. with its affordable data plan.Yes! BlackBerry.

Indeed it quit affordable unlike the blackberry OS-10 were you pay 1000naira for 250MB

Glo seems to make it possible for users to surf the web, for as low as 1000Naira for 3 GB. Few individual in Nigeria love the new blackberry 10. But its really expensive.
    Why BlackBerry(curve &Bold) with OS 7 sucks

    • Aint Game friendly: indeed you don’t expect to play need for speed using Track Pad. Its definitely kind of boring

    • Most Apps are Sold: you have to buy app and the once up for free are filled up with advert

    • Few blackberry developers: just of resent blackberry lunched it own developing tool. But since android is available is quit hard for individual to develop app on blackberry.

    • Support only Java apps: this is the worst part of it you don’t have to be happy because it is not all java apps. That do work on it. Which is really annoying.

    • Battery: this is the worse of all, the battery don’t last for long. it really sucks when it comes to it Battery

    • Hang/slow: any way, you want to call it, blackberry (bold & curve) really hang I mean stuck or slow.

    • Auto re-boot: this happens more on curve 7. When the smart phone is mad, it start re-booting continuously till you phone Battery drains

Well OS7 was a good OS for me and still is for many many people for a lot of reasons. but every OS has its difficulties. So the things that are bad about it can be said about nearly every OS...BlackBerry or not.

Maybe the carriers there aren't giving data as cheap as other countries right now but in the future it won't be like that.

I hope that BlackBerry finds their way into Nigerian people with BlackBerry 10 before cheap Androids do.

The same like developing countries as Indonesia and India. Carriers damn well know that users never going to reach that 3GB of data. If you only need email and four square checkins, what more do you need?

BBOS is still popular in Africa and to a lesser degree India because BBOS was designed around the limits of 2G communications - BIS uses compression to really keep the amount of data transmitted over the network small. But, what happened in the rest of the world is already starting to happen there too: networks are being upgraded, and data becoming more affordable, eventually making BIS irrelevant and undesirable (it actually slows down a faster connection), and so Nigerians, South Africans, and others will move on to modern OSs that don't need or rely on data compression.

Plus, much of the data we send around the 'net these days is already compressed as much as possible: music, video, and pictures are pre-compressed and can't be compressed any further, and what little data isn't compressed isn't big enough to matter.

I would bet that BBOS and BIS will be obsolete worldwide by the start of 2017. Already carriers in several countries have discontinued support for BIS (and thus BBOS), and that trend will continue and expand in 2015.

BBOS is the past - modern OSs (such as BB10) are the present and future of mobile.
