Does your carrier have a weak 3G network where you are? A new one that isn't fully operational yet? Are other phones also experiencing this issue?

Switch to 2G/Edge if battery is your main concern.

Mobile Data is one of the biggest battery consumers than every phone experiences.

You just have to be wary of certain things that it does that drains the batter even more.

1. 3G and 2G use the same antennas, but u encourage you to restrict your device down to 2G when coverage is horrid, so your device won't be working so hard to gain a stable 3G connection, but rather, a less work-heavy 2G connection.

2. 4G/LTE use an entirely different antenna and will drain the battery even more. Keep it off if battery-saving is your goal.
