The BB10 Porsche design P'9982 or P'9983 may not have sold in high volumes but am convinced it was more of luxury than numbers. Even if it wasn't BB10 PKBs, the luxury line didn't feature a single handset for BB Android ( even if as successors to the priv). And do other luxury lines like Mclaren for oneplus or Vertu exclusive to those particular OEMs not feature manufacturers like TCL for higher-end PKB devices?

That was a marketing program setup long before Chen... when it came up for renewal he didn't want it. Think Huawei took it on after that.

It was a gimmick type of marketing program that most people with money didn't fall for. Shove same old parts in a "premium" shell. Bottom line is you need enough of a base market for that trick to work. Selling 10 Million phones, there is room for 20K premium units. If your only selling 1 Million phones or less, there just isn't enough of a market... especially with the internals that TCL was using. Higher end internals... wold have been a whole new model with it's own design and production cost.

You could see a lot of BB Porsche Design in Beirut and Dubai some years ago.... Of course Chen wanted to give priority to Huawei...

It wasn't BB's decision, it was Porsche Design's. The original contract was signed when BB was still a player, but by the time it was up for renewal, that had long since stopped being the case.

PD might be a low-volume luxury brand, but they need SOME volume, and BB was no longer in the position to provide that.
