    old, legacy BB devices had the limit of call through wifi only.

    BB10 allows you to call (voice/video) via mobile network as well.

    I'm surprise BlackBerry even allowed this because Apple doesn't allow FaceTime to use on cellular network. It's a liability waiting to happen imo.

    You can Facetime without WiFi. When Facetime first came about carrier networks wouldn't support Facetime video calling over the cellular network, so Apple never bothered to provide an option other than WiFi. After 3G networks were improved, and LTE was about to launch, the requirements for WiFi were lifted. iOS 6 added the option to Facetime over cellular data network. Basically any iPhone that is 4S or newer supports Facetime over the cellular data network.
