I agree with the article, but these phones are becoming multimedia devices and it seems the "phone" portion is secondary. Problem with RIM is that there are so many variants of the same OS so I think it's hard for developers to keep up.....
RIM still does what it always has and does it well.
However, I think a majority of people want the fun factor in phones, then complain about battery life after watching a 3 hr hd movie on a 3" screen :)
one thing that kills me on blackberry is just the browser experience .. cant wait till they update that ...
No I don't think BB is on its way out.....maybe on the consumer end, but it is the strongest most reliable and secure device on the market. Thats why us business people love it!
I don't think RIM is trying to get all the tweener business that goes to iphone. They piddle around in that market and get some of it simply because some of the kids want to feel like a grown-up and have a bb. But they're not in the multi-media/I've got more apps than you...nanny, nanny, boo, boo, market. RIM is in the business/corporate market where email and security reign. If you feel like you need more of a kiddie toy, then go get one. They are all fine devices and do some things better than others.
IDK if they are or not but with Android flooding into the once BB owned app world it does seem like BB better step it up. Just saw the HTC EVO 4G coming out this summer and it is tantilizing to jump from BB unless they do something soon. I love my BB Tour and have bought several Apps but what is BB doing to keep us interested. We BB people love to be ahead of the curve and BB is falling behind.
I can't wait until the day these "RIM is 2010's Titanic" threads disappear. Like it's been two weeks of this bull**** doom and gloom, are we finished? Has CB seen a sufficient amount of overly dramatized articles yet?
Also;
Wading through the 14 unnecessary words in that sentence, I believe what I'm taking away is that you think that BlackBerries once owned the 'App' world? If so, then you're dead wrong. Applications and the availability of said applications has always been Apples niche, and will continue to be. There hasn't been a point yet where RIM's Crap World has outdone the App Store or Androids Marketplace.
Exactly. I work for a bank and if you want email on a phone, it has to be a BlackBerry. Nothing else comes close in terms of security.
If you need your phone to be fun you have too much time on your hands.
Get a life, iPhone lover! And get a job you bums!
