    Fart apps

BB world: 43 fart related apps
    BB apps: ~100,000

App store: 903 fart relatd apps
    iOS apps: ~800,000 apps

So, BB has 0.043% fart apps in their app catalogue

Apple has 0.11% fart apps or 2.5X or 250% more fart apps than BB

From this I conclude there is a lot more crap in the app store than BB world, both as a percentage and in total. Anyone have the numbers for google play or windows?

You gotta think, if 903 fart apps get into the app store, what and how much crap is in there?

I think we'll see that there its only a handfull of actually somewhat revelant apps that are actually important and only in NA (US>CAN, ie. netflix, hulu, pandora, spotify, instagram, whatever random 'app' the people who can't live without apps complaint about. Just looking at availability of these services and usage). Releasing in the US a month later might prove to be very telling of the actual importance of these apps on our mobile devices.

Thanks for those numbers. In response to some claims in another thread here yesterday, I tried to look up the numbers.

But from a regular web browser, I couldn't find a way to search on a text string in the Apple store.

On Google Play, when I searched on "Fart" it claimed ">1,000 results". But it only seemed to display anywhere between 200 to 500 depending on whether I did the lookup from a desktop browser or my Android tablet.

I have a feeling the actual number is at least 2x higher.

I've seen it claimed that the Apple App store has over 2,000 flashlight apps too.

Oh another interesting statistic: 60% of Google Play apps have never been downloaded a single time.

I thought the fart app ratio was a sign of success. Maybe that's why Cramer is now high on BB.

I'm okay with the Fart apps count but I don't like the Magazines in Apple store which are put forward as individual apps..

From a consumer pov, it's good to see options when searching for an app..

There are "app developers" that take an RSS reader app, create various versions which are simply the same app individually tied into various different website's RSS feeds, and then charge a separate fee for each "app".

IMO, apps that have never been or not downloaded after a certian time should be removed from an app store. This may incetivise developers to update and redeploy their apps to be better, and have a potential to be downloaded.

Too many apps just muddies the waters

I will only download a fart app if its done natively on BB10 in cascades!!

That native experience is a must. lol.

So app store has 903 fart apps, 1200 flashlight apps, 1800 solitaire apps is just ridiculous. No wonder its so big. Its gotta be mostly a ghost town and Omnitechs findings point to that.

Good Job.... Of course you're inviting the following

    Hulu
    BB world: 0 apps
    BB apps: ~100,000
    App store: 1 apps
    iOS apps: ~800,000 apps

    Flipboard
    BB world: 0 apps
    BB apps: ~100,000
    App store: 1 apps
    iOS apps: ~800,000 apps

    Instagram
    BB world: 0 apps
    BB apps: ~100,000
    App store: 1 apps
    iOS apps: ~800,000 apps

From this I conclude there are a lot less wanted/useful apps in BB world, both as a percentage and in total. Anyone have the numbers for google play or windows?

Still, trolling over Fart apps does seem to be popular.

one of the most useless stats. it should be consider trolling and waste of board space if anyone still using the fart app argument. at least come up with something more original.

let me know the stats for wanted app that's missing on BB. let me know when there is a unique app for BB that other OS want. i think those stats would be more important.
