Where do the people on ebay get phones that much cheaper? I am talking about legit not stolen ones. the phones i see on ebay are around $100 cheaper than what carriers sell for no contract ones and these ebay sellers still need to turn a profit right? also these are brand new phones, not used. I do realize employees of RIM do get phones cheaper, but there seem to be people with dozens and dozens of new phones, so i dont think the RIM employee is the only factor. so where do they get these? Thanks
P.S. I have bought a phone from ebay, it was a lot cheaper than store and it worked well, never broke.
Refurbished or from insurance. Friend lost his phone, paid the $100 deductible to get a replacement of the same phone (which was about $400 value off contract), sold it, and used the money to buy a different phone.

but some of these people seem to have hoards of phones, and when you look at their feedbacks, there are lots of feedbacks from satisfied customers buying these phones.
Again, refurbished models that are practically new. Or "open box" inventory. They just buy them in bulk from dealers or re-salers who can't move the product on their own or who have no need/intention of selling it themselves.
so most of the devices on ebay arent actually new, just refurbrished new? would it be possible to buy just 1 or 2 right from the retailers instead of on ebay?
The seller I bought my back up phone from buys them from large corporations that buy big lots of phones. Then because the phones get out dated or the company changes policies they sell the lot. This place had 100 curves to sell.
Also remember that when it is time to renew your contract you get a $500 phone for $50. Many get the new phone, sell it, keep the money and keep using their old phone.
Maybe these sellers get them off some dumb buyer from craigslist. You know there's always that dumb joe schlubb who happens to be an impulsive buyer but ends up selling his spanking new phone after 2 weeks because he:
1) Needs the cash bad (where he shouldn't have bought the phone to begin with)
2) Doesn't know what to do with
3) Bought it to show off and he's feeling buyer's remorse.
If you go on craigslist its fairly easy to spot these people.
So you guys are saying that sellers that say that they are selling new in box phones are really selling refurbished ones? They are just lying instead of listing as "factory refurbished" as many do?
Even those guys with thousands of sales and 99+% feedback are selling as new, either used or refurbished phones? That would amaze me.
