Whenever I drop my Berry, it resets?
- gravity sucks
but it keeps my @$$ in this chair
you can get away with droppin a berry so many times and then it breaks
(way more sturdy than other devices!)
sounds like a loose connection, either the battery prongs or like SLVR6 said the battery mount
who knows07-26-08 06:47 PMLike 0 - Paul, I owe you a huge apology!! So 1st I apologize for a$$*U*me that you were being reckless with your Berry and just dropping it haphazardly.
Ok, now that that's out the way....
Now I see what you mean and I'll try to explain so that others know what you were talking about.
We are talking about the Curve here. This happened to me a few minutes ago and I had to come back and post more for Paul's sake and not my own. You can be placing your Berry on a table; with your hand that close to where you want t lay it, it can touch the surface and reboot. I wouldnt describe it as a drop because I didnt drop it.... at least it didnt seem that way to me.
This is not the 1st time this has happened; it occurred once at work and I was doing the same thing; placing it on my desk. My Curve isnt 2 weeks old and as far as the battery door, its seated better than the Pearl- but this didnt happen with my Pearl.
07-26-08 06:51 PMLike 0 - I'll add that my 8330 does the same thing. It's a new phone (month old and not a ebay special) from Sprint with OEM battery. The right jolt will cause it to reset just as the user said in the first post.
This has happened since almost day one when I was grabbing the phone off the desk with my right hand and almost dropped it while transferring to my left hand. It never fell at all...just a slight jarring when my left hand snatched it. Last night I was setting it down on the nightstand and it barely made a thud (maybe dropped a 1/2" if even that far out of my hand) and it reset.
I can slap the back of the phone fairly hard with my hand and cannot get it to reset. It must be the "right" hit to make it happen, yet it has happened more than I think it should with the slight hits it has taken and caused it to reset.07-26-08 06:53 PMLike 0 - This happens to me too and I just had the worst one yet. I thought I bricked the phone.
So I dropped it from about a foot onto a carpeted floor and of course it turned off, but this time it wouldn't turn back on. When I plugged it into the charger I got a solid red led but nothing more. I panicked, tried to turn it on, pulled the battery a few times, but nothing. It looked like it was trying to turn on as it started to cycle from solid led to no led. It looked like the lcd screen was flickering even. Fearing the worst, I took it apart and cleaned the contacts on the motherboard with rubbing alcohol and a q tip. I carefully put it back together, popped the battery back in and there was that red led again, staring me in the face. However this time it booted up and came back to life!
As much as I hate those skin cases, I think it might be a good investment. I promise I will never drop my blackberry again. :X10-31-08 09:29 PMLike 0
