I don't own any smartphones at this time but I really like the size and appearance of the curve vs. the larger bold. What do you think are the chances that they'll have 3g with the curve in the future?

Technically, the VZW Curves are 3G... EVDO is technically a 3G network.

So, this all depends on the carrier... for GSM carriers, never!!

My VZW 8330 is MUCH faster than a friend's iPhone 1.0 when accessing data. Of course, his browser is much prettier, and he has wifi - which is much faster than my EVDO data access.

This has me thinking about something I heard. I've been told that "1XEV" which shows on my Sprint 8330 is not actually true EVDO. Was this correct? I know it's a lot faster than when it shows 1X. Is there a speed faster than 1XEV?

    1xEV

"Part of a family of CDMA2000 1x digital wireless standards. 1xEV-DO is a "3G" CDMA standard. EV-DO originally stood for "EVolution, Data-Only", but recently is also referred to as "EVolution, Data-Optimized"."
