Even Apple, with all its resources, outsources phone production. Other than Samsung, I'm not sure anyone manufactures in house.
Absolutely right. Most electronics are made by outsourced manufacturers. Only a handful of the biggest companies made their own stuff (and even then, they often buy in significant components that were made elsewhere). Sony, Samsung, and LG would be the main companies who do much of their own manufacturing, but none of them do it all.

Apple's SoCs are designed by Apple but manufactured by Samsung's microprocessor division. And most iPhones have Sony camera modules. Nearly all Apple laptops are manufactured by Quanta Computer, and the display panels in them are often from Sony (in the past) or Samsung (currently), but LG is the main supplier of OLED panels.

Those kinds of "sleeping with the enemy" relationships are common in the tech industry.

Some of the Q10 were made in Canada too, the T-Mobile and Easlink versions.

I just wanted to update my previous post where I had said that BlackBerry had contracted Sympatico to build a lot of devices and device components for them years ago.

The company was actually Ontario based Celestica. Looks like they had a contract with RIM but cancelled it in 2012.

Here's a Globe and Mail piece discussing some details.

Sorry about any confusion in my earlier post
