both whatsapp and bbm are different you have to have both to be in contact with friends and it was just they downloaded so many bbm but most of them have already deleted them nobody using them on other platforms.

Let's be honest here... WhatsApp is basically programmed like a virus, ok? I wouldn't say that's something to aspire to. Sure it gets them the big numbers, but they got no soul, mannn! lol

You would lose that bet. I have never had whatsapp on my phone.

What ticks me off though is my husband's work uses whatsapp for communicating between employees - therefore I know that whatsapp has my number.

Coincidently it was shortly after that I started to get the 'you have won a free cruise' phone calls. Is this because of whatsapp? I can't prove it but I strongly suspect it.

NO, BBM IS NOT BETTER THAN WHATSAPP! Why? Because:
    1. sending messages to iphone users -> unreliable, sometimes working, sometimes not, the only friend of my who's trying bbm, and now it's deleted.
    2. sending messages to android users: -> two friends of my testet bbm, reliability far away from whatsapp -> deleted
    3. My GirlFriend wants to send pictures to my sister (iphone with bbm), after hours an error message returned, LOL

I think the game for BlackBerry is realy over, i told you this as shareholder, not so much money, but no hope to get it back.
You will see, in few month there will only stay the server software, BES10 is OK, but the rest ist big crap. Not for me, i like my Z30, but our users in company, they are laughing about BlackBerry, they are betting how long Blackberry will stay.

My five cents... WhatsApp will rule as long as BBM has a limitation for attachments (6MB) and a "transmitted" video is available for download for only a quarter of hour after sending... It's technical middle ages....

lol and you are such a credible source. Couldn't convince your girlfriend and friends using BBM exclusively
Dude, I convinced all the important people (not my girlfriend because she was already rockin a z10 in my life to use BBM. I had 3 contacts. After 2 months, I have 18. But, unfortunately, I can't force then to delete WhatsApp. Specially because the app is popular here in Brazil. BBM will have to keep the good work so people can continue join the app every day.

Yes the limited attachments are definitely something to improve here. But, after a lot of complains I've seen lately about it, they will certainly work on it.

You can't generalize because of your specific experience. In my example, 85% of my BBM contacts are from ios and android. After these recent updates, no more delays or non delivered messages. The app is gorgeous.

Complaining about a cross-platform app that released for about a month. Lol. by the way they've patched the app many times already have they updated ?

Irrelevant and a totally separate issues.

Accidentally broadcasting your debauchery when measures are in place to alleviate or prevent the accidental leak of your aberrant behavior, is not the same as handing out a permanent piece of information that can continuously contribute to headaches.

It's going to be impossible to beat whatsapp if BBM continues with PIN only option...Give people option those who like PIN let then use PIN and those who prefer to use Phone Number let then use phone Number.
These are staggering numbers... I want BBM to be successful but I am convinced that BBM Pin will turn out to be BBM's biggest enemy.
It's a simple fix that BlackBerry could do before it's too late.

Just because 100M people are idiots and gave their phone numbers over to strangers(probably a mix of friends and strangers) and now can't figure out why they are harassed with no way to prevent it..Doesn't mean I need to be one of those 100M users.

That being said, i've managed to convert quite a few people to the PIN idea and BBM4ALL has made that easier to do for non-bb people. It will take a little bit of time for it to get to the level of popularity, but once people see the plus sides it will take off.(with the help of Android venders pre-loading BBM)

    So pin sharing is pornography?

Data breaches on whatsapp since 2010. Look it up.

And I did say I couldn't prove it. However I am careful with my cell number so it ticks me off to be added to a system, without any choice on my part, by an app developer who has proven in the past to be lackluster with their security efforts. I don't give a darn that they keep the numbers 'anonymous '. The calls I get don't know me from Adam. Doesn't matter that my number is anonymous ' to them.

This is comparing apples and... another fruit. Durians, possibly (I know lots of people either love or hate the fruit).

The premise of whatsapp, and the base premise of how BBM works, are both fundamentally different.

If you compared something like ICQ, or MSN to BBM, I find it a fairer comparison.

If you take wechat vs whatsapp, that's a fair comparison as well, although one can actually say WeChat is somewhere in between of Whatsapp and BBM in terms of UE and UI, hence the comparison between wechat and BBM is also somewhat valid.

But again, the comparison is not only unfair, but of different parallels that does not share the fundamental premise of how it connects to users.
