Not true I.e. Toyota ....
The US is probably the least hostile country to non "That Countries" products of all. We have little to know tariffs on imported items, even though countries like China dump product on at prices only possible with unfair trading issues. With NAFTA we let good paying jobs get sucked up to the North to sharted down to the South. Chevy makes trucks in Canada and most people don't care or realized this. Maybe you could provide some data to backup these claims. Has their been more Buy American campaigns lately? Yes but they are grass roots and not Government sanctioned. People are realizing that letting our manufacturing base be outsourced leads to higher unemployment. I seriously wish the US would go into the projectionist mode that everyone outside thinks that we are in now, cut off all foreign aid, pull our troops out of all foreign countries, for one full year, and just sit back and watch the world fall apart while we work to get our house in order just to make people of other countries appreciate how good they have it because of the USA!
You cannot assume this based on the devices selling out, this was a new product for the carriers in the UK too and the odds are that they were going to tend to be a little on the conservative side and are probably frantically trying to arrange new orders to refill stock already.
Countries in locations such as Latam and Apac not yet having hardware is more related to the ramping up of devices than the date of the american launch and indeed they may have a fair amount of american hardware built and ready for the carriers to stop being so slack.
I was skeptical, but after seeing the ad, I don't think it did anything "bad" other than possibly cost too much. Perhaps create a little awareness, but the brand name seemed "too fast," and I think people who weren't looking for it might have missed that it was a BlackBerry ad.
Apparently the Blackberry commercial was voted #1 on the NFL Super Bowl website and then was removed from receiving further votes. Hmmmm?
