The 9860 has a better processor, the 9790 a keyboard. Only you can answer which is better for you.
Which is better, chocolate or vanilla ice cream? ;)
Vanilla ice cream all the way lol but good point lol
Two phones for two different use cases. I guess I could give you the generic response and say unless you do a lot of typing, the Torch 9860 would be best. Though, amusingly enough, I do a lot of typing and can't use physical keyboards. Multi-language support and suggestions are far too important. With a well designed virtual keyboard, speed and proper tactile feedback are hardly an issue.
P.S. Vanilla and add whatever other flavor you want ;)
Curious, why is your choice does not include 9900/9930? Far better spec wise than 9790.
If you want keyboard, go for the sundae. ;)
P.S. I love my 9860 running 7.1.0.428 :)
price 9790 and 9860 are same price and i brought the 9860 but can exchange if i want to 9900 is 115 extra
For me, I don't know you're situation but after having the 9700 and now the 9860 for about four months I don't think I would want the 9790. I used my coworkers for a little bit, it just felt so bleh compared to my Torch. Tiny screen, compact keyboard that doesn't feel as good as the 9900 keyboard, etc. Feels a lot cheaper as well. Its only redeeming feature over the 9900 series is that it has AutoFocus on the camera, but my Torch has that as well as a larger screen.
Thats just my take. 9860 all the way!
I'd go for the one with the keyboard.
If you can live without the keyboard - then keep what you have. If you really miss it, then swap it!
If you like the portrait keyboard on PlayBook, you'll love the landscape keyboard on this.:D
I was on the same situation a day ago. Glad I picked the 9860, i love the screen size, the landscape keyboard, it felt like an ergonomic game controller:D only drawback was NO NFC! Oh well. I wish RIM would compensate that for giving the 9860 a decent portrait keyboard. (perhaps an update to have BB10 OS) Lol that's just me. Cheers! :D
Thanks for the input people i really like this phone tbh. But can anyone tell me the best keyboard settings as this keeps typing is own thing. Also very laggy at showing what i have typed this just took around 5 minutes
It shouldn't be laggy at all. But you can set your keyboard sensitivity setting as well. I have all my stuff turned up to the max and I type almost as fast on it as my old 9700 and 9000.
Mine's not laggy at all. But i'm not running too much apps on the background though. You might want to check your memory for the culprit.
I love my 9860, and before it I had a 9810. Also liked it, my husband uses it now. Go into Setup and play with keyboard sensitivity settings. Also get a battery monitoring app (I use MyBattery) so you can establish normal drain rate and operating temperature. Then you will know right away when something is off.
Don't know about anyone else, but for me, better processor beats all other features.
I have a 9860 and it's one of the best BB I've used. The keyboard needs getting used to, but after you get that done, the better processor and extra screen space really rocks for me.
When it starts getting laggy like that, a reboot will fix it right up. That's why I was recommending that Quickpull app to ya.
