I'm just thinking with all of this back and forth about metrics and stuff, we really aren't talking about what makes a Blackberry so desirable. I personally believe the only thing holding Blackberry back is poor market awareness, as everyone believes current Blackberrys are like the 9530 and the company is going to keel over any moment and magically kill any devices in use at that time. And that causes developers to have reservations about developing for the platform, which further elaborates the problem.

There will be no defending of Blackberry in this thread. I want the arguments against Blackberry phones to stand alone, without arguments obfuscating the actual point. Then you can read the arguments and judge for yourself (NO POSTING) whether or not they are sound and hold merit. Mods would you please consider ensuring that these rules are followed?

And I have reason to believe that any argument that toes standard forum rules and guidelines to make it's point might need to be rephrased.

And to make sure that we are clear:
What this thread is asking for is: "What are the physical and software flaws in current Blackberry devices, NOT the company."

high ram usage by the OS even with no apps running on the background
overall mediocre hardware on z10 (nothing too special)
slow boot up times.
Blackberry Link is absolutely terrible.
It takes a long time for BB hub to setup after restarting the device.
mediocre camera on the z10(blurry pics, def a software issue)
unimpressive battery life on z10
Blackberry world is terrible.
Terrible/fluctuating reception on z10 and slow to send text messages. (I returned my first z10 because of this problem but the same issue exists in my replacement z10 )

Here goes:

1. Start up time and reformat time is crazily long
2. HELLOO!!!! Where is my one swipe to access all network connections settings like NFC, Hotspot...etc? Is it that so unwilling of you to make one?
3. Yes.... you see this coming...... APPS, GAMES!!!!
4. Don't be stingy on hardware specs.... z10 was an OK device.... you should be using SuperAMOLED and your Natural Sound Tech from the start.... you *****!!!
5. MOODY CONTACT section where some of mine contacts will just disappear..... WTF....... please solve it... sometimes I do think BB10 are worst than the legacy device....
6. What get BlackBerry into trouble in the first place is the pricing of your device..... Geez man.... the initial price for the device is not justifiable in terms of hardware specs...(Z10 or Q10 or Q5) ...

Phew... I feel much better after all that ranting......

I love this thread ! No sugar coating.

For me it would be the lag after installing tons of apps and the mediocre battery life on my Z10 whatever the settings are.

As others mentioned you don't get enough for your money on the hardware side of things. Ok camera, processor, gpu,speakers, battery etc.

That being said, I think the Z30 is a step in the right direction.

Z30 too heavy imo, screen too dark.
Z10 is the perfect size but lacks too much specs as mentioned above.

Software wise:
- no quick access to nfc. In fact we should have more options in the pull down options.
- unable to lock screen when u most need it : in apps. We should be able to customise the middle mute button!
- no themes customisation
- individual call blocking
- allow us to merge not just link contacts
- 4 screens on the main page for z30 is too little. Allow more frames in the main screen + ability to change their sizes if possible..
- leaving it to 3rd party apps that must remain open in the background when we should be able to customise the led colours built in.

Z10 battery life could be better.
aside from that I have no problem with the hardware.
Software problems that bug me are:
Phonebook app and all the duplicate numbers, can't turn off certain accounts in the phone book, they always pop back up.
Text messaging needs improvement.
Better control over notification settings, as don't put my ring tones in with my music.
And why can't this phone play a freaking midi file for a ring tone!?

1. Producing a device with mid spec's + infant eco system and expecting top dollar for their device. OWW MY BALLS!

2. They should focus more on GPU, these screen devices are Graphic intense and it's more efficient to have a gpu process this compared to reg cpu. That's why Z30 has better batt usage than the Z10. Why does iphone screen look so nice when viewing stuff? Great GPU and fast refresh rate? People want (eye candy).

3. Stop building devices for today and start building them for tomorrow. Files, games, PDF's, pictures, video's are getting bigger, etc..

4. Don't hold back TAT, let them flow some color and effects into BB10. Message to Management: We and 95% of people are not happy with just a tool anymore. Why do you thing the main TAT team left, because your stuck in the past you nimwits.

5. Don't limit the work/ personal software to just BES. A lot of people would love to have this feature.

6. Management/board has clearly missed the boat where blackberry stands today in the mobile industry and should be removed form their positions.

8. Stop $hitting the bed when it's time to produce. Once Blackberry starts producing quality software/products people will notice.

9. Firm up these O/S upgrades, BB10 is starting to get just as messed up as android. Grow some balls and send your updates out through your website, the carriers don't care about you so why should you care about them.

10. (No rule about cheering) I do think they can do something about this and hope they can turn things around soon, but they have had so many chances it's getting darker and harder to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not defending just clearing up misinformation. The Z10 does use the GPU to display the OS. All OS7+ phones are graphics accelerated for navigating the OS. It's why they are so smooth.

Does the iPhone 5 or 5s last 24 hours? Not by a long shot. Audio and antenna is better than most out there.

Reception has always been a blackberry strong point. Miracast is not even ready for prime time. It's a gimmick right now.
