I spent so much to get the z10 and less than 3months, i have it soaked in water just cos I placed it on a tab and some leakage found its way into it through the ports despite having a case. Still don't know how cos it wasn't immersed.... :-(

Switch it off (if it isn't already) and immerse it in a packet of rice overnight, to let it dry out.

There's a chance (just a chance) it is salvageable

Do the rice thing mentioned earlier. For a minimum of 24 hours. Make sure it's uncooked rice. Jus' sayin'.

Yeah, unplug battery immediately, do not try to power it, blot wet spots, leave it in rice for 3 nights at least to be safe.

If you have any silica packets kicking around you can pop them in with the rice for maximum dessiccation. Good luck.

The rice trick has saved me a number of times... dropped my 9800 in a mud puddle last spring... total submerged.... yanked the battery and sims.... dropped it in a bag of rice in a burlap sack ( increases obsorbtion ) for 2 days... she fired up.... have used the same trick with laptops... I found the trick is yank the battery immediately after retrieving the device.... good luck...

Tried that as well. Great call. Its one thing to use after soaking up a "bit" of moisture from a tub, its another when one forgets his Torch (& Bold) in the cargo pocket of your pants and t makes it thru the spin cycle! LoL. I save all my silica packets and containers for a "just in case" moment Just like this ...

    Awesome.

I hope I wasn't too smart alecky with the comment about the rice being cooked. If I hadn't seen it happen once, I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Whatever you do DON'T TURN IT ON. I was dumb but you don't have to be. DON'T USE A BLOWDRYER either. Remove the battery and place them in a container of rice. Leave them alone for at least ten days. Good luck.

Phew! Glad it worked out. And now I know what to do if it happens to my Z10.

Is it a good idea to put the compromised phone near a mild heat source like a radiator?
