Just wondering if anyone could identify the correct processor for the z10, heard of some snapdragon for the us and canada but i dont know what kind, anyone who can clarify on that.
Nobody knows for sure yet is really the answer.
most likely dual core 1.5. No one knows though
i will be disappointed if the hardware is not capable of OpenCL and OpenGL ES 3.0.
even if not immediately supported by the initial release of BBOS10, having a clean platform capable of using new technologies from day 1 is a **** of an advantage to throw away, and i worry that RIM is about to do exactly that.
i would hope that the BBOS10 phones come with the dual-core krait chip sporting the adreno 320 GPU, as a minimum.
I think there will be different chipsets for international and N/A models. There are some threads around here indicating the most likely candidates are the snapdragon s3 and a TI OMAP chip.
If the leaks ae correct, TI-OMAP 4470 in the London, Qualcomm S4 in the Lisbon and Laguna. We won't know for sure though till Wednesday.
Since EE have confirmed they will have LTE on their variant combined with the mention of Liverpool in a german article linked on this forum, I think we can safely assume that there is a 3rd variant using the S4 too.
its an S4 that was rumored same one thats in the current SGS3 which is a snapdragon S4 plus and international is the OMAP 4470 like the dev alpha b and the playbook LTE
You're right, I confused myself. Meant to say the same chip in the S3, which like you said is the S4.
Ya, I thought it was the dual core snap dragon.
It would be nice if we get a speed increase versus the S3.
which does not have the OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenCL compliant Adreno 320 GPU. for shame, RIM!
I say wait till Wednesday. RIM may surprise us with the Pro version with the Adreno 330. it's wishful thinking but we'll see.
thats what the original rumor was that it would be the dual core Snapdragon S4 pro but we still don't know about what RIM willy has in store for us and if we do the crackberry crew hasn't confirmed it

and FYI the plus has an Adreno 305 while the pro has 320
Meh, I will be happy as long as it comes with a processor. Seriously, they aren't going to have one that runs the OS like garbage so why worry about it? So what if someone else has more cores, is that going to make or break your buying decision? If it is going to, just wait six months because someone will have a faster one out, then wait another six because that one is already obsolete.
I would love to see a Z10 with an OMAP 5430 be shown off on Wednesday and surprise everyone. Likely won't happen, but that would be cool to be the first phone running it. We know the QNX Bentley was using this processor so RIM has already worked with this processor.
It will have a qualcomm S4 1.5 GHz dual core chip. Those leaked Roger's slides are real and this info is on them.
Source: I saw the slides first hand on the official Roger's training site.
is that the new one that just came out?
no
We'll have to wait until Wednesday to be sure, but it's looking like there will potentially be 1 of 2 CPUs in the Z10:
1.5 Ghz version of Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus (MSM8960)
1.5 Ghz version of the OMAP 4470: Texas Instruments OMAP 4 (4470)
Personally i'd be a little underwhelmed if the Z10 came out with the Galaxy S3's CPU (the S4), just half a year later, but ya never know.
Nothing wrong with the galaxy s3's processor its snappy as i own one, you have to remember they would of planned the z10's future last year and probably ordered thousands of cpu's way before production date.
There really isn't that much that has come out better than the processor in the GS3. Some Quad Core versions, of the chip are out now, but their simply isn't much new due to the difficulties with the 28nm manufacturing process.
